We utilize Paylocity for Time & Labor and HR & Payroll mainly. In my experience, the system is not flexible and advanced for our needs, but we learned to manage it for now.
I think Paylocity is relatively easy to use if you have under 100 employees. There were numerous times where we had to manually add changes to all employees as the upload tool was not uploading correctly. Imagine imputing data for a 1000 employees. In my experience, reporting is horrible and not flexible enough. We have to run a least 2 to 3 reports to combine records into 1 - very inconvenient and time consuming. In my experience, customer service is also a struggle. You find yourself getting different responses for the same question/inquiry.

We use Paylocity for Payroll, expense reports, and recruiting. We are considering putting our performance evaluations into the portal also. We used it for peer to peer recognition, but it didn't gain much traction so we moved that to a different platform with success.
  • Integration with Employee Navigator - a big plus for us
  • Expense Reporting
  • Ease of use for employees and supervisors
  • Housing important documents; W4, W2, Handbook, etc.
  • Sales Rep Responsiveness
  • HR portal and the Payroll Portal don't talk with each other very well requiring, in some instances, double entry
We provide Employee Navigator to our clients and when it comes to payroll integration, other vendors have been lack-luster where Paylocity is now our only recommendation. We become guilty by association so I only recommend a company I can trust.

I am the technical recruiter for [...], so I use Paylocity for recruiting purposes. It starts from when they apply, then dispositioning them in Paylocity. Whether they are qualified or not, etc. I typically get their resume from Paylocity when they upload it there. They are also able to upload certifications, etc.
  • Payroll
  • Self-service for employees
  • Recruiting piece/ATS could be improved.
  • A candidate being able to save progress on their application is really a must as they can't leave and come back to their application without having to restart, i.e. if they need to get a phone number for a reference for example.
  • Could use more room in entering the job for internal notes.
  • Quirky when doing cut and paste of job details that leaves spaces that aren't in the document being pasted.
As mentioned, Paylocity is great as a payroll service for getting employees paid and also for them to get information using their self-service. Definitely could be improvements in the ATS/recruiting piece of the plaform. Paylocity is a payroll first platform and recruiting is an add-on, so the functionality is not as good as it is with stand-along ATS.

Paylocity is our main HRIS. We use it for payroll, onboarding, performance management, time and labor tracking, benefits enrollment and management, Cobra. We have purchased the recruiting module but do not use that as it is not as user friendly as our prior system so we scrapped it and went back to Trakstar for recruiting. Business problems addressed, all employee data can be stored in paylocity, it combined a lot of systems into one spot for us and can be a "one stop shop" for all employee info. Just wish the recruiting platform functioned better.
  • Payroll process.
  • Performance Management.
  • Onboarding new employees.
  • Benefits Management.
  • Recruiting platform - not user friendly.
  • Errors and glitches with the software and the time it takes to resolve problems.
  • Benefits interface - issues w/ launching new hire benefits are ongoing.
Employee onboarding is pretty seemless, new hires are able to login, upload all needed info, fill out documents and merge into our systems as a new hire employee. - some glitches with this are the first pay date is often listed inaccurately. I currently have a new hire starting 12/4, and her "first pay date" is listed as 11/22? why? did this even happen. And then it will not let you amend the first pay date. - very cumbersome to fix any errors. Time and Labor - we recently had a glitch where the used hours were not listed correctly in Self service portal and HR&PR, took over a week to get this glitch fixed. - the timing it takes to address some of the issues is a bit excessive and does not garner confidence in the product. Performance Management - we have had no issues with this system and appreciate that we can modify and create our own template to our desired needs.

We utilize the product for all HR-related document storage, compensation, payroll, timecard reporting, performance management, total compensation statements, employee onboardings, benefits open enrollment, Data Insights, Surveys, marketplace, and EDI Feeds. Soon, we will be adding Market Pay.
  • Payroll Processing.
  • Compensation Management.
  • Offers a great overall package of add on features.
  • Odd glitches here and there that no one can explain the "why".
  • Customer Service is erratic with people being knowledgeable with the system.
  • Sometimes, making custom changes, such as performance management (performance review) is hard.
The overall package is terrific. Customer Service has dropped in the last two years.

I use Paylocity to process three different payrolls for recruitment, benefits, and onboarding. I have begun the process of implementing Expenses.
  • Payroll process is very user friendly.
  • Reporting options work well.
  • Support staff are very helpful.
  • Implementation assistance is subpar. I did not receive a notification or any assistance when implementing Expenses, and have had it for 21 days and have not used it.
  • Assistance with the set up of benefit parameters for open enrollment needs to improve. I received no emails initially, and the spreadsheet was not user-friendly or easy to follow.
I think once the setup is done, it can be used as a full-service HRIS; it's the set up that I have found to be cumbersome without much support.

Paylocity is a great HRIS system with multiple modules that you can customize to fit your company's needs. One of the best modules is the electronic onboarding system, which takes care of your I9 needs and verifies to keep you in compliance.
  • Customer service support.
  • Stays compliant with new laws.
  • Easy to understand system.
  • Report availability.
  • Provide a glossary of what reports will do what.
  • Expand on the compensation tool to detail the product to your customer's markets.
The product is good for both T&L and a functional HRIS system. It helped consolidate all the papers that HR collects into one system.

I use Paylocity for onboarding, I-9 verification, and legal document management. It makes the whole process much easier and is an invaluable tool to avoid any legal compliance breach. Also, the organization uses Paylocity for Payroll and talent acquisition, which makes the processes more efficient, and in the case of TA, it helps with employee engagement immensely.
  • Recruiting
  • Onboarding
  • HR & Payroll
  • Event packets implementation.
  • Customer Service response.
  • Make user inter phase friendlier.
The communication feature, where employees and management can send notes and recognition to and from each other, is awesome. Performance reviews can also be streamlined. Management can also share insights and analytics that come in handy to make wise decisions throughout the organization. Impressions in Self-Service can be used by our staff for annual awards and as a way to say good things about colleagues.

Paylocity is the HR tool we use. We use the following modules: HR & Payroll, Data Insights, Learning, Onboarding, Performance, Recognition & Rewards, Recruiting, Surveys, Time & Labor, Workflows & Documents.
  • Journal retrieval for reviews.
  • Payroll
  • Mobile access.
  • The functionality between reviewer and supervisor in the review process.
  • Reorganization of the scheduling tool. We want to schedule it not in alphabetical order but by department.
  • Reporting is wonky.
I have already suggested Paylocity. One of its benefits is the accessible toggle between departments, so we can track actual sales per labor hour by department. However, for a start-up with fewer than 10 employees, Paylocity may be too much of a tool.

  • Timesheet reporting.
  • Recruiting
  • HR information hub.
  • Customer service.
  • Direct account manager.
  • Response time when emailed questions are sent.
Mid-sized organizations would do well; larger organizations may get frustrated with the response time for concerns that may be time-sensitive.

We use the entire HRIS Paylocity suite of products, from on-boarding, benefits administration to time and payroll processing. By using the full suite of products, on-boarding, payroll processing, benefit management and open enrollment is nearly seamless.
  • Integration between benefits and payroll
  • User interface
  • Payroll processing
  • Response time and availability from the tax team
  • Implementation
Like the rest of the world, I think Paylocity seems to be short-staffed. Thus significant issues take quite a bit of time for us to get resolved. I've had an outstanding tax issue since April that still hasn't been fully resolved. However, I've used several HRIS / Payroll systems and I think Paylocity has been the best. The HSA/FSA/Cobra administration is so very easy. And once we got our on-boarding workflow corrected it works very well.

I am the only Administrator for Paylocity in my organization, so I manage everything that lives on the platform. The modules we use the most:
  • Payroll - Fast and easy process, it's really made our payroll process simple and efficient. We all also get to track employer contributions to benefits, which I think is critical data to show our employees their total compensation.
  • New hire onboarding - The onboarding events have been great for capturing all the new hire information and compliance-related documents in a timely and efficient way. Being able to process e-verify on the platform as part of the process is very helpful and allows us to always be compliant
  • Performance - Goal setting, journals for ongoing feedback, feedback requests, and performance reviews have allowed us to have an agile and thorough process
  • Learning - L&D has been a priority for us and Paylicty has a great module to track employee's learning efforts
  • Payroll
  • Integrations with 401K provider
  • Ongoing performance tracking with journals
  • Recruiting - the ability to add candidates manually in a fast and easy way and we approach a lot of passive candidates
  • Recruiting - I would like to be able to add candidates to folders to build a pipeline.
  • Recruiting - It would be very helpful if we could add tags to candidates ie. experience in x field, bilingual, etc. to be able to search for candidates in the future based on the tags assigned
  • Onboarding - I would like for the onboarding process to go beyond the hire date i.e. Tasks the new hire was to complete in their first 90 days in order for us to keep track
Overall, Paylocity is a good platform and the implementation process was great.
I would recommend it to anyone wanting to have all of their HR process and employee data in the same platform.
I would not recommend it to those wanting to go deep on the recruiting and onboarding process

I use Paylocity for HR and Payroll as well as Time and Labor. For the most part, I am very happy with Paylocity. The problem comes when you need help through customer support. If you call their helpline, they do well, but if you try to use the chat option, they do not always help. Also, if you try to add a module or new feature, the team that helps in this area is not very attentive. You would think they would be interested in more business. When I first signed up for Paylocity several years ago, they were much more attentive the first couple of years, but as time has gone on, they are losing good customer support.
  • User-friendly
  • Staff can understand it
  • Like it
  • Their chat online needs to have better customer support and relation
  • When adding new modules/features the customer should be attended to quickly
I used to give Paylocity a 10, but would not give their chat a 10. There are a couple when their names pop up I just disconnect and will not try to chat with them because they are. It helpful.

We started with most, if not all, of our paper-based processes. The main areas in which Paylocity has improved have been onboarding, payroll, recruiting, and data insights. The efficiency of these processes has greatly improved. The data insights are an amazing tool to help us make data-driven decisions. We are also a rapidly expanding company, so we believe the system has the capabilities to keep up with continuous recruiting and onboarding. Although the system hasn't completely met our requirements, we appreciate how Paylocity consistently updates its platforms and requests feedback. As a paper-based organization, having employee records in one area is also not refreshing. The records are fairly easy to navigate and accurate, and they help keep us organized. We have also been able to improve our connection with employees. Although it continues to be a long transition in breaking and building habits, the community platform provides a lot of potential to connect our team and promote our culture.
  • Continuously updates products to meet client needs, modernize the platform, and improve processes.
  • Provides a straight-forward and accurate payroll process.
  • Make it easier to update employee records with hr actions.
  • Provides a knowledge base so we can troubleshoot on our own and learn the system.
  • The knowledge base needs to be much more comprehensive. Many features are not explained, making it difficult to understand why something is happening or find solutions to improve automation.
  • The implementation process is a headache. It's a very fragmented, disorganized experience. The specialists don't communicate with each other, they don't seem to always be up to date on changes, and they seem overworked and burnt out. The company should have a consistent and structured training and implementation process.
  • We were next explained many features in detail, and there is no training for them. This includes the expense module, the modern workforce index, templates and checklists, position management, events vs. HR actions, and security roles.
  • The amount of automation and customization was a little disappointing. The workflows are confusing to understand and not very robust.
  • The time off policy system can be greatly improved. It took weeks to get ours fixed and we eventually had to involve a supervisor to start from scratch. It can't handle even slightly complex policies.
  • Although it's in the knowledge base, they don't have a digital handbook feature, which is something we were looking forward to.
  • I wish the compliance dashboard included updates on changes to local/federal regulations.
  • It's a pain that we can't customize the notifications or add any.
  • As a company with fewer than 100 employees, we felt we didn't receive the attention larger companies would.
  • They don't update the system all at once. Some parts are modern, and some are outdated. This is even true within the same single module.
  • The different modules are very fragmented. For example, why are time and labor and HR/payroll separate systems? There's a lot of jumping between different modules when you need to see something, making it confusing for employees.
  • There aren't many resources to assist employees with the transition to a new system, and the adoption kits are not comprehensive enough.
  • The self-service portal should have more customization options for both employees and admins.
  • Admins must be very tech savvy and good at troubleshooting to learn this system because the way to know it is by experimenting and exploring because the training is insufficient.
Paylocity is well-suited for companies looking for a safe, solid choice. We weren't necessarily looking for a tech-forward provider or even a provider with amazing customer service. We just wanted a provider that would be robust enough to meet our requirements and expectations and provide us with ample customization. Paylocity would also be more suited for companies with less than 500 employees. While it can handle scalability, it isn't yet advanced enough to keep up with more. I would also say that Paylocity would be well-suited for companies that want a one-stop shop (with some decent integrations available). They have most of the modules needed for HR and payroll. If customer service and training is essential to a company, I wouldn't choose Paylocity. In my opinion, they aren't personable, and the customer service structure isn't great. They emphasize producing and improving products to meet demand, but they don't go further than that to teach clients or ensure they are happy with the improvements.

Paylocity is used for Timekeeping and Payroll Processing. It is very difficult to get help with a question from my experience. I am new to Paylocity administration and I am not able to get questions answered. If I call to talk to someone, they just tell me to read an article or fill out a form (that doesn't usually fit my situation very well.) I am not at all impressed with this service.
  • I wish I could think of 3
  • With all the problems we have, it's hard to see the good in my opinion
  • Someone usually answers the phone for support
  • Reports are difficult to customize
  • Needs a more simple set up when all features are not being used
  • PTO balances aren't calculated correctly I feel
I would have liked to explore using some of the other services that they offer, but the ones that we do use are so difficult to navigate, it seems like an impossible task. I don't think it is well suited for any scenarios. The PTO balance errors were particularly exhausting and I never did get an answer on how to fix the calculation problems, despite asking many times.

Paylocity is used as an HRIS in our organization. I personally use the ATS and found it to be a sufficient product that is constantly evolving. I also use the HR module and onboarding. As a company we use most of the other modules including Benefits, Payroll, Community, LMS and will soon use Time Keeping. We've also found that the community function is very engaging with our employees. Another highlight is the Data Insights and reporting.
  • Data Insights
  • Easy to use
  • Can be integrated easily with other programs that we use
  • Candidate self scheduling
  • Phone app that allows for recruiting activities
  • ability to make notes on job requisitions
Small to mid-sized business is perfect for this program. I am sure a large company can use this program, but it depends on the complexity of the organization that will be using it. Job costing is somewhat tough to deal with for firms that have a ton of job codes, but it can be worked through given time.

I use Paylocity for onboarding and to process payroll. Paylocity has replaced our onboarding paperwork making our onboarding so much easier. Paylocity has also replaced our PTO form and has made requesting time off an easy process for all the employees. I have been told by the employees that they like punching in and out through Paylocity instead of doing manual timecards.
  • Keeping track of PTO
  • Provides learning through the app or on the website
  • Helps keep employees informed on the Community page
  • Easy clock in and clock out
  • provide a manual to help with learning the software
  • Have the app and the website link when using one or the other
  • Explain when employees select paperless that they will not receive a W2 through the mail
Paylocity has made everything so much easier and quicker from onboarding to payroll. It has helped us eliminate the paperwork involved with the onboarding process. My account manager and customer service have been very helpful when I needed assistance. I do wish they had a manual to refer to instead of having to email, call or chat all the time while still trying to learn the system.

We use Paylocity for payroll processing. We joined Paylocity because our organization has over 200 people, and it is a better fit for a company our size than our previous payroll vendor. It was hard to figure out how to use it, and the reporting is not the best, but we have learned it with the support of the Paylocity team.

  • Teaching the system.
  • Integration company - Joynd.
Better suited for a company that has exceeded 100 headcount. It is better suited for a company that has a dedicated payroll team that can spend time learning the product as it is not easy to use. It is less suited for smaller companies that are not scaling. I will continue to use it in the near future.

We use Paylocity as our HRIS platform. The system has an easy integration process with other platforms such as in our situation when it came to sharing information on employee benefits. The support team were able to understand what was needed and follow up accordingly.

  • Benefits essentials did not fully capture enrollments of employees causing some reporting errors. It has room for improvement.
  • Helping new start-up companies with compliance issues and taxes.
  • Having a single point of contact versus just a call-in number.
It's well suited for small-business owners who have to run payroll for salaried employees but can become a bit complicated when the employers start hiring hourly workers and there is the integration of timekeeping systems and the many features involved in that process can become overwhelming to new start-up companies.
