The tax updates ease the work of Payroll to not input the updated tax information. But, Wyoming is a problem with Worker's Comp and requires extra steps because the program does not recognize the rate change from year to year.

(176-200 of 266)How to have Continuous Payroll Processing!
These different modules have addressed an interfacing issue with our prior provider. We process payroll much more efficiently and faster. The Recruiting tool has helped address compliance with application tracking.
- Continuous Payroll Processing - You have the option to run multiple pay cycles at one time. This assists with making last minute changes and recalculating to make sure the outcomes are correct
- New Hires have the ability to use the Pre-Start feature to handle all paperwork and elect benefits before Day one at the job
- Creating and modifying benefit plans is very easy.
- We have not really had major issues with functionality.
- Ceridian Support Team has limited resources which could cause delay with any issues where you may need assistance.
A 10 for Ceridian!
- The integrated system between the time, payroll and HR functions makes so much more sense than having separate systems.
- The ability to view future payrolls and make future entries rather than waiting until immediately before processing is awesome.
- Ceridian is always looking at ways to improve and very open to customer suggestions.
- The tax setup in HR is cumbersome and not user-friendly. Would love to be able to view only current active taxes in an employee's record with the option to view inactive.
- The Payroll feature (HTML version) runs very slow compared to the My Pay feature.
- Ceridian recently changed from a 3rd party vendor managing garnishment compliance to an in-house team and product. Although the reasoning was good the change over made a lot of problems in compliance. The calculations changed without the clients knowledge and the errors were discovered after a few months had passed. There should have been better communication concerning the change.
Everything can be seen in real time and depending on the level of access employees can see their punches and what has been updated by the manager. This gives them the opportunity to review their hours and pay prior to the payroll processing. There are reports that admins can use to balance timesheet to payroll and with the real time updates can calculate a payroll as often as needed to confirm accurate payments.
- The benefits administration within Dayforce has significantly reduced the transactional keying within our organization. The transactional time savings alone allowed us to reallocate .5 FTE to developing and deploying benefit educational material and training sessions for our employees. This time savings accounts for the manual entry of Health Savings Account changes, Life Events, and 401k election changes.
- The calculating of gross to net pay within the application and not utilizing a mainframe is a transformational change, eliminating the wait time that existed with a mainframe. Calculating payroll for a group of 1,200 employees went from 25-40 minutes on a mainframe down to 2-3 minutes in Dayforce.
- The attendance calendar that contains a snapshot of an employees time away from work for an entire year and the ability to drill down to see the hours is a great benefit to managers to see trends in time away throughout the year.
- The flexibility of the entitlement (PTO, Vacation, Sick, Volunteer Time Off, etc).
- Would like to see a customizable home page, so when an employee logs in, a company message could be displayed along with quick links or documents that are frequently used.
- Access for an employee to report on their own personal information such as the time they have taken over a period of time or the ability to reporting on their compensation or job changes over the course of their employment.
- Would like to see the ability for employees to submit personal changes through forms available in the mobile app.
Great for Large Business
- WFM module has the potential to significantly decrease overtime if used properly by managers.
- Ability to see labor in real time.
- Accessibility to associate information across the organization has been greatly enhanced and allows for greater security.
- Customer Support is lacking. Unless the issue is stopping payroll, your case may not get responded to for days or weeks. Also, customer support appears to be focused on a work around instead of finding the root of the problem. Very disappointing.
- Amount of time required of internal resources for implementation is exponentially more than the timeline provided by Dayforce. Implementation is a full time job for 2 people in the organization, one for payroll/benefits and the other for everything else. Sales team promises things that are not possible or require additional charges.
- Some implementation consultants are happy with "good enough". We want full functionality and felt like we needed to accept less than promised. We continued to push and received the end result we paid for but felt we should not need to push to get full functionality.
New to Dayforce and Loving it!
- Customer Service.
- Technology.
- Ease of use.
- I am excited to see the decision-making tool in the benefits portal.
User-Friendly!
- Ease of access. Ceridian Dayforce has easy accessibility and is very user-friendly.
- Customer Service. Dayforce users have ample customer service reps at our disposal, which help with questions, comments, concerns, and even the occasional error!
- Dayforce can move a bit slow, and in a high-paced work environment, speed means increased productivity.
Impressed long before the deal was made!
- Customer Service has been positive thus far. Any questions we've had they've been able to answer right away.
- Listening to its customers, always asking questions and watching feed boards on what they can do to provide better user experience.
- Innovation is always changing. They utilize ideas from their clients in different ways to streamline functions.
- Workflows are a large project.
- Strategy before marketing a new product, On Demand Pay. While discussing this at the INSIGHTS 2018, there were a lot of unanswered questions. At this stage we are uncertain if they are answered or rectified yet.
Opportunity
- Timesheet tracking.
- Real time calculation/continuous calculation.
- System layout is easy to navigate.
- STO (Source Tax Online) - Reports originated from the platform are not user-friendly which makes our reconciliation harder and time-consuming.
- Reports in general. Most are not available in Excel or not available at all.
- Banking reconciliation. Our organization always has a difficult time reconciling transactions.
Payroll previews are always available for review which means that if I want to see an employee pay 6 months from now, I can. We are able to send payment instructions and 5 minutes later I can see the results under previews.
In regards to taxes reconciliation and bank impounds, it seems like we are connecting with a completely different company and technology. STO (Source Tax Online) is not a user-friendly system which makes difficult to reconcile taxes payments. On the banking side, when amounts are pre-funded for different transactions, the team that handles those transactions seemed not to understand what the payroll team is trying to accomplish. The lack of communication between the teams turns into our company being over deducted and/or over refunded at times.
Just keeps getting better
- Multiple platforms (mobile, webclock, punch clock, app, desktop clock) provide different levels of employees to manage time in ways that are more convenient to the business.
- Very easy to use, not difficult to navigate when needing to get things done
- Switching from Silverlight to HTML has caused multiple issues with processing payroll.
- the Global settings need to be re-evaluated to allow for more individual configuration
- Not utilizing the entire HCM can cause delays in routine tasks due to integrations
Experience at a glance
- Data Privacy
- Candor
- Customer Support
- Customer Support Analysts for more advanced users that have already tried the basic tasks to try and resolve a problem so we don't have to go back and forth several times before we actually discuss the issues.
- Would love a 'can i help you' feature within the program or support portal for questions on the fly.
Dayforce
- Dayforce is very modern. The technology is great, and this has really helped improve the amount of time we spend waiting for payroll previews.
- Dayforce is also very intuitive, and easy to use!
- Dayforce's managed services model needs improvement.
- Dayforce's tax system for US tax needs major improvement.
Great integrated product!
- Benefits enrollments are quite easy. The ability to build plans on my own, update rates, run rate jobs and modify plans is a plus. Mostly a point and click.
- Reporting has been upgraded with the REL55 allowing the ability to easily add fields to reports without building new topics. Great time saver!
- Workflow management is a great function, creating forms and directing the forms for appropriate approvals. Takes the paperwork off the desk and the leg work away from the managers.
- More clarity on payroll mapping. Seems my difficulties lie in when I am creating new payroll codes, pay codes and I might forget to map. I know this might sound crazy but what about a pop up when creating codes that need to be mapped to remind you "hey, don't forget to go to pay policy and . . ." I get that testing should take care of this but with newer employees are using Dayforce, might be a good idea. I think this would eliminate calls to the help desk at Ceridian also.
- FILE FEEDS FILE FEEDS FILE FEEDS!!!! I've have been working with the Ceridian team and our benefits vendors to create 8 file feeds right now. Not one is on track, not one of these projects has kept me informed without me asking, not one has had a project manager managing the tasks / timeline. Right now, 2 feeds are over a month past due and 4 are a couple weeks past due. I am wasting valuable hours creating reports to provide changes to vendors directly.
- Not being able to delete some items such as jobs/positions created in error. If no one has been in the job and no one is using it, we should be able to delete it. It is not Ceridian's job to babysit HRIS professionals by restricted what they can and cannot do.
Ceridian Newbie
- I think the biggest strength I see so far with Ceridian is how it has streamlined payroll processing.
- Another feature that is very beneficial with Ceridian is some of the flexibility in dealing with payroll elections. Coming from a legacy system, this system does do much more than what our payroll department was use to.
- Ceridian is pretty simplistic when setting up new deductions codes and earnings codes.
- I think the hardest area for Ceridian is the reporting. The reports that are used are not always user friendly and it is very hard to create a report.
- I sometimes see issues with the different interfaces from our HR system to the payroll system.
- The file feeds to outside vendors seems to be an ongoing issue for implementation.
Ceridian Dayforce review
- Good account managers - very responsive and understand the system well
- Support team is very detailed and organized in their approach to solving problems.
- It needs a better way of prioritizing "ideas" submitted on the portal and communicating the status - we find that many of our ideas are crucial to us but we have no idea how they rank on the priority list
- Needs a better way of communicating with the customer when there are critical interface errors or system shutdowns
- The support team needs to be educated more on the business processes that are followed as part of all the integrations
Centralizing your Employee Data with Ceridian Dayforce
- Dayforce provides us with a consistent employee record through recruiting, on-boarding, benefits, payroll and their entire career.
- Dayforce provides us with the tools to integrate our employee data with other systems.
- Dayforce provides us with a reporting platform to answer employee questions presented by upper management.
- Dayforce reporting could provide a more flexible approach to gathering the information required besides being limited by the "topic" functionality.
- Dayforce is missing certain data elements from it's import templates. This should be expanded to help further our integration options.
- Dayforce could be improved by integrating with Outlook calendar features for TAFW, etc.
Review of Ceridian Payroll
- The calc process works very well.
- It is fairly easy to balance the payrolls.
- You can process multiple pay groups at one time.
- Reporting is lacking.
- Producing our own custom reports is difficult if not impossible.
- We must hit a set time to be funded.
Dayforce Rocks the Work Life!
- Dayforce helps us accurately and efficiently process payroll
- Dayforce streamlined our recruiting process
- Dayforce helps our employees manage their benefits
- Dayforce could be more cost effective for smaller, non profit companies
- Dayforce Payroll tab could be more user friendly
- I would love to see more reporting across module availability (combining earnings with employee demographics in a single report)
- It offers a lot of solutions "out of the box". If your company has no specialized/customized needs this would be excellent.
- For the most part, customer service is responsive, aside from the busiest times of the year.
- Documentation is extensive on all parts of the system. The DIG (Dayforce Implementation Guide) in particular, is very helpful.
- Training and sales seem to be out of sync with the actual system. Sales promises our leaders things that in real life are not possible, or require additional fees/services to implement. Training has featured things that are no longer available live in the system. Support sometimes is out of sync with updates as well.
- Support is overwhelmed the entire year. This means slow response times, unless you mark everything as urgent. If a ticket is marked as high priority, unless it is escalated we may not get a response beyond "your ticket has been received" for two weeks or more. Ceridian needs to hire more support people.
- Communication on changes that will be made by hot fixes is often done after the fact.
Dayforce Payroll User
- The workflow options save a lot of time with paperwork having to go all over the place. With the click of a button a form is sent to the correct person for approval.
- The notification blast option in Dayforce allows us to send all employees updates quickly even if they don't have access to their company emails right away. This helps us save time around holidays and at year end.
- Being able to preview the payroll before your commit the payroll saves time as we are able to fix errors prior to the final commit. We are also able to see how a check is going to be impacted by a change before payroll is complete which helps reduce manual checks.
- Sometimes the system will freeze up when you are trying to look people up.
- The tables are still in Silverlight so I need to still use IE when everything else I use I can access the system in Chrome or Firefox which is a little more stable.
Dayforce makes my worklife easier!

A Dayforce to be reckoned with!
- Integration of Payroll and HR functions. A smooth flow of (accurate) information between these two functions drastically reduces payroll errors.
- Payroll in general. The continuous calculation of payroll allows our team to see exactly where we are with payroll and the impacts of any changes or updates as they take place.
- Support. Both from an account and technical perspective. Ceridian support teams appear to be knowledgable, responsive and take the time and effort to learn about our business and particular Dayforce configuration. We don't need to spend time explaining how our deployment is different from others when requesting support.
- Surveys - Ceridian has indicated that the ability to generate and report on enagement surveys will be provided in furture releases, it isn't there yet...
Smaller companies with simple payroll requirements will likely not see the benfits
So many applications in just one system!
- Continuous calculation for payroll, ensuring you, and the employee knows were they are at in the pay period, and can quickly identify discrepancies to be able to resolve them prior to payroll submission. This helps our admins not stress prior to payroll submission, and be able to deliver the most accurate paychecks for our employees keeping them happy.
- Report writer! Get readouts of the information you need. Build your own report with the information you need. We use a variety of different reports to help us get the most accurate information from an HR, payroll, timekeeping perspective. We've found endless benefits to this function and use the information to push our company forward in the industry.
- Excel to Dayforce. There are different ways to upload information straight into Dayforce, making it easy to get a new employee's information uploaded directly into Dayforce. This drastically cuts down on the labor time it took to get a new employee into the system helping our HR department get back to assisting our employees instead of being bogged down on data entry.
- I think the scheduling component could use some work. Currently if someone has a different type of availability for work, you cannot simply look at the days they are available and visually see what they can work. You have to hover over the box to see what they can work. It would be benificial if there was a way for their availability to be visible A for AM, P for PM or O for open in each day.
- Some of the upload functions could use some additional functions. We are currently trying to figure out how to upload our J1 visa employees, but have their social security tax blocked so we don't have to manually for all of their work assignments. It's very time consuming.
Have a great day on purpose utilizing Dayforce.
