Act-On gives me everything I need to be a powerful marketer. I've evaluated Marketo and Eloqua (after having Act-On and told the price doesn't matter) and I could not find a reason to switch. They did not provide me any evidence that they could increase my productivity or help my marketing strategy or reporting.

I choose Act-On because of the price, simplicity and customer service reputation. After sitting through a few demos, I also felt Act-On had more to offer a small company like ours. Their niche is small to mid-size businesses, which made me feel like they understood our needs and challenges more than some of the bigger players in the industry.

I have used large enterprise solutions which can be very valuable but often times never get fully implemented or utilized due to the complexity of data and technical integration issues. Act-On has a powerful backend but it is scalable so you can start small and grow. I have an excellent customer support manager who really helps us with our Act-On marketing efforts.

The bottom line is that IMHO Act-On provides the best bang for the buck in the sector. There are other companies that might have prettier email templates, or fancier interfaces, but when push comes to shove Act-On meets the price-point vs. value issue very well. To get even remotely close the the feature set with another product you'd have to 2x the price.

In comparison with Pardot, Act-On includes all features offered by them and more. The biggest thing was I felt like I was in good hands, where as with Pardot I felt they just wanted the sale and would abandon us and not provide in-depth support and training as Act-On does. There have been many instances where we needed support immediately, I am always able to pick up the phone and call and get a rep right away to resolve our issue/help.

We are software selection advisers, therefore, we are constantly working with organizations searching for various tools to help them. That noted, the decision to go forward with ACT-On as opposed to others options was a bit unique. The key factor was we knew what we wanted and needed. We defined our requirements and based our decision on what we were attempting to accomplish. The other marketing automation software tools offer some great features so it was a tough decision. The key for us was finding an easy to use tool, a marketing automation platform which provided both inbound and outbound capabilities, and a tool which we could grow with long term in our respective business interests.

I chose Act-On based on price and that it was a new objective for my company. Act-On is a very robust system that is affordable. I didn't need a complex system. Act-On had what I needed to roll out marketing automation. It also has the ability to scale globally without too much more integration, which is a plus. The other systems have a lot of great features, how for what I needed they did not make sense. I see Act-On adding new features all of the time and I'm sure they will add some of the competitors features, however their system is very robust and easy to use as it is.

Act-On is so much easier to use and offers so much more in terms of marketing automation than RealMagnet. Act-On's email composer is also very much easier to use. List management is also much easier, and allows us to integrate with our CRM, making segmentation possible and easy.

I kind of already covered this in my previous response.

Manticore - Nice people, product didn't integrate with Oracle CRM, used it for email blasting only. Such a disappointment on the integration.

Oracle CRM Marketing Automation - Good product, I believe it's being phased out since they purchased Eloqua. Long wait on support. I can't recommend it based on this. Hire a consultant to help you get started which adds to your expense.

Evaluated:
Marketo - VERY detailed, did cool stuff, but lots to program and set up. More than we needed and I didn't have time to spend that much time programming it.
Eloqua - Okay product - some good stuff here, but sales rep. was rough. Based on previous experience with Oracle support, it was ruled out.
Pardot - Good product, good sales team, seriously considered it. Plus, SF.com owns them which meant it will easily integrate with SF.com. Support - fill out the form was the tie breaker. There were a few other things Act-On shared with me that also tipped the scales as well.
