  • Gross to net calculations for payroll.
  • Talent community-- it provides the ability to keep all applicants in one place.
  • We would really like to be able to customize more in terms of applications and forms.
  • It would be great for applicants to be able to save their application and come back to it later.
  • Support is slow at times, and they tend to need a lot of hand-holding.

  • The "continuous calculations" make it easy to see the effects of changes in real time
  • The ability to enter data for multiple pay periods at once reduces the chances of missing something later on
  • The ease of enrolling employees in elected benefits
  • Completing a ROE is very easy and straightforward compared to older systems I've used.
  • How adjustments to entitlements are made. Right now for our full time vacation it's like try to balance 2 moving targets
  • The lack of flexibility in entering earnings and deductions. Sometimes a negative amount is needed, but the system just won't allow it.

  • A customizable platform for your business!
  • It's a great network of customers to connect with -- I cannot stress this enough! There's a portal specifically designed for customers to interact with each other that is amazing (XOXO). There are user groups for monthly catch-up calls and meet-ups of customers to learn more about upcoming product upgrades or deep dives of how one customer is using a module. There are testing programs for releases that give customers early access to test a new feature before it goes live, and an annual conference to learn more about upcoming features, modules, and more!
  • The customer support team is also great! Are they experts on every piece of the product? No. As you learn more, you'll start to understand when to go to support, when to go to an outside consulting firm, and when to ask another customer. It takes time, but I would be remiss if I didn't mention the dedicated support team. If you say something is urgent, expect a call in thirty minutes!
  • If you don't have an HRIS analyst already on staff, you will have a really hard time implementing and just understanding the general flow of how an integrative system like this works. It took us about a year.
  • If you don't have an HRIS analyst on staff, get yourself more than just the implementation team provided by Dayforce. They're called consultants, but they aren't very consultative. If you ask for x, they will give you x, without mentioning that because of y it won't work. They won't encourage you to take a step back and really understand the goal of a process before jumping into the execution stage
  • Everything costs $$$. If you need more than your average question answered from support, it will cost you! Need a change to your carrier connection? Think $2K.

  • All-in-one system - We no longer need a separate scheduling system in addition to an HR system.
  • Gathering customer feedback such as surveys and conference forums.
  • Constant upgrades and releases - Ceridian are constantly improving the system (no cost to the customer).
  • Response times in support aren't great but have improved over the years.

  • I think Ceridian handles the online open enrollment for our company benefits extremely well! Also our onboarding process. Ceridian has saved time when it comes to open enrollment, such as now everything is paperless, our employees are able to make their own selections and physician choices, without signing so many papers. We (the company) are also able to store this information for auditing purposes, without risk of losing information, and making sure all areas of the benefits are covered.
  • I feel these are strengths because the onboarding process in companies is very important for new hire employees. The strength for Ceridian with on boarding is it saves so much time doing everything online, it also has little room for errors because employees are involved in updating or providing their own personal information themselves.
  • Another strength of Ceridian is being able to obtain so much information for the onboarding process, such as our employee handbook! This way our new hire orientation is done on online where new employees are able to view and accept various policies of our company online and this eliminates paper, errors, and more confidentially!
  • I would like to see the Ceridian Support improve more, and turn around time quicker. I experience when reaching out to Ceridian support that questions I ask always have to be researched and I always have to receive a call back. I would like if at some point questions could be answered during the call or transferred to a area that could resolve the issue on the same phone call. I work a lot with Payroll and sometimes there is no time for a return phone call, sometimes I need the answer right away.

  • Sets up rules so that employees can punch in early but not be paid until their shift start time.
  • Automatically calculates holiday pay.
  • Streamlines the payroll process and has reduced time spent on payroll by 50%.
  • The program is complicated and it is not easy to create your own reports.
  • There are many rules around how to make a change and if they aren't done in exactly the right order the change won't be made.
  • The program is slow to implement changes - new employees or changes from terminated to re-hired.

  • Ceridian Dayforce is very simple to use, it is easy to train new managers to utilize it.
  • It is intuitive, so there is rarely a need to call support for assistance in everyday functionality.
  • Its simple layout is easy to navigate and saves us time.
  • I would like to see a few more reports added to the standard reports so that we don't have to call and create our own.

  • The recruiting module is well done overall. Not quite as flexible as a dedicated product (like iCIMS) but still a solid solution for the job requisition/candidate management process from end to end.
  • The reporting capabilities are great, particularly if you are familiar with basic T-SQL concepts and relational database management systems.
  • The workforce management module is also quite fully featured. It is very flexible and can be configured to meet complex organizational needs regarding timesheets and the tracking of employee worked hours.
  • Customer support - Their support experience is hit or miss. Often times it seems like the support representatives do not fully understand the product.
  • Core modules such as payroll and benefits - These modules are adequate, but there is a lot of room for improvement, especially as they transition to the new 'HTML' user screens.
  • Doing a better job of testing new modules before going to market and also completely developing modules and features before selling them to clients, instead of releasing them in an incomplete state and adding important features later.

  • Scheduling is very useful. It is exception-based, making it very easy to use and update, when necessary.
  • It tracks entitlements, which is very useful for all employees.
  • Entitlement balances are visible to employees, but these balances are confusing to understand. The anticipation is that all employees will take time off in sequence.
  • Job transfers are a bit difficult to enter.

  • Easy for employees to log in and request time off
  • Ease of reconciling payroll for payroll staff
  • Ease of reconciling T4s and taxable benefits at year end.
  • Job costing is difficult when you have employees that work on different jobs and at times outside of jobs such as an overhead role.
  • The export of data to accounting systems is easy, but it does not include as much info as we would prefer.
  • The support team takes a while to respond and they always want to charge a fee for any tweaks or corrections.

  • Electronic timesheets that are part of Dayforce allow for a much better and more efficient way of entering employee hours worked.
  • Full time employees really like being able to see their entitlement balances at any time and to request time off in the system.
  • The biometric clock is working very well for all the facilities that use it. No more punch cards. Authorizing and approving the hours each pay is much faster.
  • I started using MyHR(People) This is run using Silverlight. This will be phased out to use HTML. People (HTML format is less user friendly for me.
  • Sometimes it is still not clear when to use refresh. In some areas it refreshes saved information in other areas it takes you back to before you did an entry.
  • As an internet based product it is very frustrating when Internet Explorer stops working and it kicks you out and you must sign in again.

  • The spreadsheet entry of time has decreased the amount of time needed for this step in the payroll process. This also gives us the ability to review before committing payroll.
  • Adding companies and employees is a relatively easy process. The turnaround time is about 3 to 4 weeks for a new company. The customer service team (Nancy Walker) is outstanding.
  • Reports can be utilized with minimal training.
  • When adding a new occupational tax for a local area, Ceridian at first stated that they would not file returns on our behalf.
  • Setting up fees for new companies was not disclosed in the contract.
  • State Unemployment rates are randomly changed in the org set up. We have to check them every pay period.

  • The concentrated attention given by implementation specialists for individual modules is superior, and is very helpful in ensuring that the end result is a success.
  • The annual INSIGHTS conference is well organized and informative. I've found tips and tricks at those conferences that have been particularly helpful.
  • The AHA board is a great place to make suggestions for improvement and it gets particularly active when there is a new release.
  • The post-implementation support for pay, benefits, and HRIS, when our consultant left and we needed to get into the weeds, was poor.
  • It's a good thing that 7000 things were done right and only 100 were left outstanding - but those 100 things gave us whopping headaches.
  • When pay is changed retroactively Dayforce does not report hours in the correct week, which erroneously evaluates average earnings for EI purposes,
  • and causes our employees some heartache. Previous Ceridian pay systems did not have this problem.

  • Dayforce does an excellent job for us with regard to Payroll and year-end. It pays the taxes and generates the T4's at the end of the year.
  • When hiring staff, we are able to keep resumes, applications, and letters of reference in one location, and approved staff are able to review the information.
  • Staff can enter their vacation requests. Managers can approve or decline. and this is all transferred into our payroll program.
  • There are statements that our staff are required to sign every year. It is unclear and hard for staff to understand how to submit that they have 'signed' their forms. This can be very frustrating on both ends.

  • Dayforce calculates payroll well for both the US and Canada. The smartphone app is also helpful and enables the company to send messages to employees.
  • We took a step backward with the Dayforce timekeeping system in comparison to our previous provider. This is especially true for working with entitlements.
  • The ATS and Onboarding modules have a lot of room for improvement.

  • The integration of the different modules is great.
  • The ease of use for end-users and the Dayforce app are top-notch.
  • Having most aspects of HR available in one place and easy to get to is very helpful.
  • There are a lot of product gaps in the modules and core system that we've found. Some were counter to things we were told the system could do by Sales and our Implementation Analysts.
  • Support is slow to respond to cases and, in some instances, give incorrect information. Sending a note after a couple of days that the issue is being researched and then not responding for a week isn't sticking to the SLA agreement.
  • When issues are found with the system, or something breaks, we are charged to get it fixed. This seems like very poor customer service and nickel and diming the client.
  • While having the AHA site available for client suggestions, a huge number of the ideas submitted are related to things a solid HCM system should be able to do. The fact that the system isn't capable of it now and the idea must be "voted on" to get in the pipeline is very frustrating. Especially when you see items that are no brainers stilling for years with no movement.

  • Payroll - Dayforce has a comprehensive and yet easy to use payroll process. And now we don't have to be in the office to transmit payroll. Reports and downloads are available soon after commit.
  • Multiple Work Assignments - for ease of allocation to different cost centers, and for ease in reporting employees may have multiple work assignments - different jobs, different locations, different rates of pay. This allows for less time making journal entries in financials and payroll and general ledger are the same.
  • Tax and government reporting services - Ceridian has their own tax service which handles our tax filing, multi-work state reporting, unemployment wage reporting and new hire reporting with federal and state entities.
  • Timekeeping is not their niche! Not all time collection devices have same options or functionality as far as what can be added or hidden by customer. Pay rules, especially around meals/breaks and entitlements (PTO) are not as flexible/customer defined as needed.
  • Reporting is hard to understand and easily pull out what need without having an IT guru/database on board.
  • License tracking is not as good as it was in prior Ceridian platform. Licenses, e.g. Registered Nurse are not able to be required when building a job/position. Not a good place in the employee record to track full license information including license number and both effective and expiration dates. Therefore, if an employee has an expired license they would not be able to be scheduled, or clock into work. Reporting on this is also a challenge.
