I've only used a few others, but Cornerstone is a feature-rich platform. That is a benefit and at times a drawback. Having this many features allows you to do whatever you need, but it also can make it difficult to find what you are looking for when you need it.

We're currently entertaining alternatives as other HRIS systems have LMS features, but other learning system competitors do not have comparable capabilities for hosting and monitoring learning. Other systems have better integration capabilities, but Cornerstone has a stronger learning package.

Overall, Cornerstone stacked up pretty evenly with SuccessFactors. The final kicker with why we went with Cornerstone was because they were a little bit of a smaller company. Since they were a little bit smaller, that allows us as admins to have a little bit more of an input on enhancements and overall changes within the system.

Cornerstone is not as light and modern as Captivate Prime. Prime has a less cluttered intuitive interface, but it lacked some basic functionality, such as a test creation tool. We had to create tests like eLearnings instead of having a native test engine. Prime had the ability to upload multiple languages for the same online training object, which is trickier in Cornerstone.

Our previous LMS was Elsevier Performance Manager and when evaluating systems for our new implementation we looked more closely at CSOD, eLogic Learning, and LearnSoft. We considered our needs for content, including integration with 3rd party vendor content, as well as opportunities to offer different learning methods and ways to supplement learning. In the end, the end-user experience, functionality, resource availability and cost analysis were our deciding factors.

I believe that Cornerstone and UltiPro are two of the best resources out there. The thing that distinctly stands out, however, is their level of customer support. Cornerstone's dial-in support had historically been bad. The wait times were long. Now that Cornerstone has revamped their support, I do not have the experience to accurately speak on it. However, please make it a priority to create a supportive environment that is user-friendly. Having a dedicated contact/rep is invaluable. Having short wait times and fast response times to cases is necessary.

Cornerstone offered the most choices in terms of a modular approach. We were not ready to purchase a complete HR/Rec/L&D system, so purchasing a modular system that we could 'bolt' onto made perfect sense. This approach also gives us a chance to work with Cornerstone and experience their service levels, meaning all our eggs were not in 1 basket. Another reason we selected Cornerstone was the fact that they had grown organically, and they operated from a single code base.
Their sales team were knowledgeable and attentive. They really took the time to understand our needs and provided us with access to a 'sandbox' so we could get hands-on with the software before we made our final decision.
Cornerstone also made sense financially, and fit in perfectly in terms of our 5-year plans.

We chose Cornerstone over SumTotal LMS because of the flexibility they offered with their system. It was not the easiest migration, as a lot of choices that were made in SumTotal LMS were made based on the lack of options available, so migrated over courses and content was a challenge. One of the biggest things that drew us to Cornerstone OnDemand was the eagerness to have us as a client. We felt the level of customer service would far exceed what we had experienced with SumTotal LMS.

On the whole, CSOD outperforms the other LMS systems I've had experience with. In my experience the codebase is more robust and reliable, and the architecture allows a greater degree of flexibility when mapping HRIS fields to reflect an organization's structure. From a non-technical standpoint, CSOD surpasses many other providers by being a thought leader in the space of talent development. They offer solutions and philosophies as a value proposition in addition to their technology offerings.

Workday has a LMS or LES as they call it (Learning Experience System) just a industry buzz phrase to make you think they're an immersive social learning experience. they were too young to meet our needs Fall of 2017 but they had a lot of promising updates coming down the pipeline. We chose not to implement as the only way to meet our needs would be to use work arounds we'd be trapped in when future updates came. We'r keeping an eye on them for the future.

We use BrassRing as our ATS and are currently considering implementation of their Onboarding module. The level of service provided by IBM is far superior to what we have seen at Cornerstone. For example, a BrassRing team recently came and spent almost an entire day looking at our processes and made recommendations based on features available to us on how we could improve our processes at no charge. Their support team is highly responsive and engaged. If I could go back, I would choose BrassRing over Cornerstone.
