We use it to send our monthly newsletters, we also have some automated campaigns where someone wants to get a white paper and they sign up for it on Mailchimp.
  • Free mailing list
  • Setting up forms
  • I find it hard to navigate
  • The automation is fiddly
  • The mailing list is difficult to navigate
  • They used to be good then they changed to being really expensive
I think it's hard to work out the free version.

When I used Mailchimp, it's main use was to help my clients to send out weekly and monthly newsletter. Both me and my clients where overall happy with Mailchimp as a mailing-system and a CRM.The main reason why Mailchimp is used, is because of it's simplicity. Although it seems a bit confusing at first to use the interface, when you find where all the main features are hidden, it is a breeze to work with.

However, it also has a few downsides. The confusing interface makes it a bit difficult to create a quick workflow. This becomes especially apparent when you want to send out a full campaign quickly. Also, the overall design looks a bit dated, especially in 2023. Even though it has everything you need, from email designer, campaign editor and contact list is present and working perfectly, it feels a bit like working with older software.
If you can look past this, you are presented with a solid piece of email marketing software that will help you to create valuable connections with your clients.
ou will not be disappointed for sure.

As an extra, if you are a small company, helping clients to create their email marketing campaigns, Mailchimp has a solid way of connecting them with your account, so you can manage everything that is agreed with your clients.
  • As a client portal to guide them with marketing emails
  • As a solid CRM system
  • As your main marketing email software to connect with future clients.
  • The design is a bit outdated. Not a big problem per-se, but it sometimes feels a bit out of place in 2023
  • Some functionalities are a bit hidden in the menus. Even when you think you know where they are, it still feels counter intuitive to have to look for them.
Even with it's negative sides, Mailchimp is still a solid piece of software that you should use for your marketing needs.
Especially the free version gives you a good overview of the possibilities of everything that you might need to get started with online marketing.
Once everything is setup properly, you will not be disappointed and will be using this great piece of software will guide you for years in your online work.

We used Mailchimp for email campaigns. Our organization sent out two newsletters per week as well as one more in-depth newsletter that went out monthly. We used Mailchimp to type, and design these mailings before we sent them and then to track viewer metrics after the fact. Looking at viewer metrics helped us find areas of improvement and opportunities to narrow our audience.
  • Attractive Design Capabilities
  • Easy way to store templates and make building new newsletters easier
  • Easy to access breakdown of how many opens
  • I would like to immediately edit the design and content of the email before deciding on a subject/ highlighted text
  • I would like to size images visually instead of typing in dimensions to a separate window. I want to use a pull tab to move the image around the screen.
  • In the list of email campaigns I wish the list was accompanied by a visual of the email instead of just the internal title
If a client is hoping to write and put together visually engaging or complex newsletters Mailchimp is a great product. Mailchimp is a great starter product for teams interested in engagement metrics but not nercessarily to get deeply in the weeds with those metrics. I was the primary metric monitor in my company but, because we're a teeny team of 4, I was unable to dig in too deeply to those stats. Mailchimp was great for me to get simple and comprehensible statistics to use.We used Mailchimp for email campaigns. As an agency it is great to have a platform that can be used with many different clients with different instances. It would be used for emails and automated workflows as well as audience management.
  • Organises data well and allows for exports
  • Great interface with drag and drop
  • Tells you if something is wrong before proceeding, great flags
  • Follow-ups- I feel there isn't always the option I want for logic
I think it works really well for a small business starting out and can have a place to hold data securely. It has great options for confirmed-opt in processes as well. I really like the automation although I think this can be quite complicated so with any version it needs some training. Although we were using the free version due to the amount of contacts I think we have a paid version now.

Mailchimp is a staple in our publishing business. We use landing pages and pop-ups to collect customer data, who sign up to our mailing list to receive industry updates and the latest news. As a publishing business, a large chunk of our profits come from sponsorships and advertising. Growing our email database is a fantastic way for us to sponsor relevant adverts to high-interest customers. We implement this across our social media and website, which we find Mailchimp integrates with just about every platform we have come across.
  • Integrates with most other platforms
  • Had advanced data entry fields for collection of additional information
  • Easy-to-use drag-and-drop builder
  • The drag-and-drop builder can be a bit basic - some of the customizations could be improved
  • The free plan is used to send automated welcome emails, now this is not a feature unless you upgrade
  • It's very similar to a lot of other email marketing systems out there - for the price you pay, it would be nice to see Mailchimp offer something more advanced
Mailchimp's deliverability is really good and the analytics you get are really useful. The price point makes it hard to choose Mailchimp over some of the other email marketing platforms which seem to have better design customization options. I never had an issue integrating Mailchimp with any of the programs or platforms we use as a business. I would like to have SMS options as most others do now. As a publication business, we are very design-led. Mailchimp has very limited fonts to use compared to others.

We do not use the product to its full potential, which is a fault of ours, not Mailchimp. The platform is very user-friendly and pretty easy to create emails and surveys. We currently do not use it for me other than that. I do hope to work on really perfecting how to use customer journeys In 2024.
  • Tagging is super easy and helps us to group our clients by donor, region, and more
  • Creating emails are super simple. I do wish if you made someting and didn't know it was included in your plan there was a way to convert it down to your plan without having to completely recreate it.
  • Love that you can send the test to everyone you want but only have comments seen by certain people, not everyone needs to see the edits/changes
  • I am excited to start to use/learn the new SMS features
  • I always seem to struggle with finding a simple search button on the home screen to search for a contact - total user blindness
  • It tells us that your subject line could use improvement, but doesn't really give you good examples of what I should do to improve it. I wish it would use AI technology and just rewrite the subject line.
  • I wish I could find a tutorial on best practices for journeys and how to use EVERY thing it has to offer.
  • Maybe offer a Mailchimp 101 class with Q&A monthly/quarterly.
I would like to see a more guided option available to walk users through certain steps for example customer journeys. I also, find that it would be very helpful to be able to select more than one option for a tag when creating a mailing list. For example, I have volunteers in multiple cities, but like to have them tagged by city versus just volunteers. Overall I am very happy with Mailchimp

We use Mailchimp to distribute a weekly email newsletter for approximate 1000 subscribers. We use the newsletter to keep our company's name and services at the top of mind for three different groups of constituents. We add subscribers anytime we engage new potential, future, customers, partners, and internal/external staff members. The goal is for our newsletter to help us (mostly passively) build/extend our network in order to grow the business.
  • Pull in content from our WordPress website.
  • Deliver our content consistently without fail.
  • Maintain a contact list that keeps us engaged with our customers, partners, and staff members
  • Provide the functionality listed above at an excellent price point
  • Provide performance detail on our campaigns
  • Introduce new, helpful features to make the service more valuable
  • Keep us informed of new, helpful features.
  • We schedule our weekly newsletter manually each week, but since we have an exact day of the week and time, we send our newsletter each and every week, it would be helpful if the Campaign Tool/Manager had the functionality to setup a schedule for the whole year or longer and then mark exceptions like for major holidays.
  • Like many websites...the function to "Keep/Stay Signed In" doesn't seem to work...at least for me.
  • It would be helpful if the "Add Subscriber" form provided direct access to enter notes about the subscriber versus having to go back into the contact after the initial add to then enter notes.
For us Mailchimp works really well for us because we have a very simple model. We send a weekly newsletters with a relatively small audience. We don't want to pay for a ton of features we won't use. But we want a solution that just works and is reliable. Mailchimp does that very well. Our plan will scale our plan up as our audience grows or shrinks. It doesn't have hard quotas that force us to pay more than we need to. Mailchimp seems to offer a lot more services like SMS support that we probably won't need, but it is nice to see the company continues to innovate. If we ever need these additional services, it is good to know they will be available.

I use MailChimp for a few of my clients who send email newsletters to their customers on a regular basis.
  • Creates audience segments using tags
  • Easy to read reporting after each campaign is complete
  • The email design interface is not the easiest to use
  • I'd love to be able to see a preview in the same window where I am editing; maybe something you can click and it expands, but you don't have to leave the editor.
The free version of Mailchimp is GREAT, and I highly recommend it for smaller companies looking for an email marketing tool.

I use mailchimp to create and maintain my organization's mailing list. I then send out email blasts and drip campaigns for the mailing list.
  • Maintain mailing list
  • sort contact by categories
  • create drip campaigns
  • create and send mass emails
  • adding contacts could be easier (less clicks)
For any business mailing list where you want to organize and use your mailing list on an ongoing basis.

In our organization, Mailchimp plays a pivotal role in streamlining communication with our teacher audience. We leverage the platform for sending regionally targeted customer communications, ensuring that our messages are tailored to the unique needs and interests of educators in specific areas. The ability to customize and create visually appealing email templates on Mailchimp has significantly enhanced the aesthetic quality of our communications. One of the prominent business problems that Mailchimp effectively addresses is the need for mass email sends. With a diverse teacher audience spread across regions, Mailchimp facilitates seamless and efficient outreach. Additionally, the platform's analytics data empowers us to refine our email strategy by providing insights into user activity. This includes crafting compelling subject lines, boosting click-through rates, and understanding engagement patterns. Furthermore, Mailchimp serves as a robust tool for executing targeted campaigns directed at both teachers and administrators. The scope of our use case extends beyond mere communication to actively harnessing data-driven insights for optimizing our engagement strategies. In essence, Mailchimp not only simplifies the process of email dissemination but also contributes significantly to the strategic refinement of our communication initiatives.
  • Behavioral activity analytics to determine clicks, opens, and overall engagement
  • List segmentation and management with the use of tags
  • Email template designs and autofill options for input fields
  • Segment creations can be a bit confusing to manage and edit once they are created
  • Some of the email comparison data is confusing to understand
If you are in charge of email deployment and have little to no email design experience, Mailchimp makes it so much easier to create beautiful emails with no skill. For people like me who are skilled at designing emails, Mailchimp has a wonderful amount of options and tools to help you automate the process to make set up a lot quicker. The way they allow you to create segments and split up your audience creates an opportunity for highly targeted emails with little to no additional setup or work.

We use Mailchimp a few times a year to send information to our customers. It works well, it is frustrating that the email sometimes lands in the spam folder but I'm not sure that can be helped.
  • Sends emails to many recipients
  • Has the option to send to different audiences
  • Lets you know when someone has unsubscribed
  • Emails landing in spam
Works great for getting information to large groups with options for different audiences to send different information to individual groups.
The mail landing in the spam folder can be frustrating. The statistics provided on how many customers open the email is useful, as well as the customers email that unsubscribe.

We use Mailchimp for regular newsletters which are sent out to our mailing list. We do these newsletters on a monthly basis and have a database of over 5,000 users.
  • Ease of use
  • Basic
  • Easy to navigate
  • Better pricing options
  • Tailored UK portal
  • Better design features
Having used it for a B2B, I think it is tailored more towards B2C businesses as it gives more flexibility for e-commerce rather than focusing on industries such as manufacturing and engineering.

Mailchimp is an essential part of our marketing. Since we are a non-profit, we needed something that would be efficient and affordable. Mailchimp satisfies both of those demands, with a simple and easy to use interface. We primarily use it for sending out new articles, YouTube videos we post and general awareness about our foundation and all the work that is done.
  • Scheduled Posting
  • Optimized Time to Post
  • Segmented Emails
  • Analytics per email
  • New update made the UX a bit more tough to read
Since we are a non-profit and rely on donations, Mailchimp is a great way to spread awareness about our foundation, what we do and the work we put in. It allows people to seamlessly access our website adding to our foot traffic and converts those viewers to donors which is why we love Mailchimp.

I used MailChimp specifically for email marketing for b2b clients. The basic business problems that Mailchimp solved were -
- Basic segmentation with tags
- Automated email sends
- Simple and easy email designing
- A cheap CRM solution
- Reporting on marketing campaigns
  • Email Automation
  • Segmentation
  • Survey Forms
  • Reporting
  • In my opinion, segmentation is not that robust
  • In my opinion, Reporting needs to be improved
  • In my opinion, Complex automations is not possible
  • In my opinion,UI is not very intuitive
Places where Mailchimp is well suited: Cost effective CRM Run cold email marketing Just started a business ie you are a startup Dont understand marketing automation much Scenarios where it is less appropriate: Run effective drip campaigns as it becomes complicated to report on it You are scaling and looking for a tool that does all - marketing, sales, service, finance. You have money to buy, in my opinion, a better tool

We currently use Mailchimp to gather data through online forms and send bulk emails to announce events and other happenings within the organization. Mailchimp is a wonderful tool and a great value. The tracking and analytics are invaluable as we try to manage our user and donor base more effectively.
  • Easy to design emails
  • Easy to manage users
  • Easy to set up online forms to grow our email database
  • Navigation around the admin interface is a little bit tricky, but once you learn it, you can navigate fairly easily.
I have already recommended Mailchimp multiple times to clients and friends because of its ease of use and great feature set, especially considering the reasonable price. There are also some nice integrations to make things work seamlessly between other products and online services. Mailchimp has become my 'go-to' email marketing system.

We are trying to transition to using SMS and MMS for one of our client's. I have reached out via Mailchimp chat for over 3 days to get pricing and the application processed. I have been promised for 3 days that someone would email me because the sale people on the chat cannot handle SMS communication. I had already filled out the SMS application and it is now 4 days later and no communication from them via email. I have checked spam nothing there either. I have received emails that they will contact me also and still NOTHING!!! I guess additional business and money is something they do not want. They certainly do not seem to care about customer service. Will have to find a new service to use. Your loss Mailchimp. You might want to consider hiring sales reps that do want to make sales.

We use Mailchimp for a monthly newsletter to current customers and subscribers. It provides tools to organize our mailing list contacts, create attractive email messages, manage unsubscribed users, and see activity reports about the open rates. We have very small and targeted audience lists and need to ensure the right people receive our messages successfully without spam filter issues or email server problems.
  • The email designing wizard comes with decent templates and drag and drop sections.
  • Adding a subscriber opt-in form to the website is easy to do.
  • Viewing the campaign reports about the open and engagement rates is nice.
  • The UI design of the admin interface is confusing. The information on the dashboard is not what I would expect to see.
  • When viewing campaign reports, the interface often defaults to old information instead of the most recent.
Mailchimp is a good choice for small businesses who need a simple e-newsletter solution. Most small businesses cannot afford fancy solutions or mail servers, and they need affordable options to maintain subscriber lists and create and send out email newsletters. Creating a basic subscriber form or opt-in link is fairly easy to do, and our web developers do not have issues adding them to a website.

MailChimp helped me with sending our scheduled emails to our large list of contacts. It kept things simple and organized.
  • Copy/Paste an existing campaing when creating a new email.
  • Manages large amounts of email contacts very well
  • Excellent email analytics that help you understand the effectiveness of your communications.
  • The designing template when creating an email can be tricky
  • Duplicate contacts can be hard to deal with if it gets out of hand.
MailChimp was the first mass email marketing software that I used, and even with being new to the type of software, there was very little learning curve. It is very user friendly and self explanatory.

Mailchimp allows us to create and manage email campaigns efficiently. It allows us to segment our subscriber list, schedule email delivery, and perform A/B testing to optimize your campaigns. It also offers automation features that enable us to send targeted emails based on triggers, such as user actions or specific dates. This helps in delivering personalized content and engaging with your audience effectively.
  • Mailchimp has a user-friendly interface that makes it relatively easy to navigate and use, even for beginners.
  • Mailchimp integrates with popular platforms and tools, including e-commerce platforms, content management systems (CMS), and customer relationship management (CRM) software.
  • The platform provides analytics and reporting features to track the performance of your email campaigns.
  • Mailchimp is a great value.
  • It could expand the options for customization could offer users more flexibility in creating visually unique and branded email campaigns.
  • Mailchimp could simplify navigation and making features more intuitive.
  • Expand the range of integrations and improving compatibility with popular tools and platforms.
Mailchimp is very well suited for email campaigns and publishing newsletters. It is less appropriate for intimate conversations and eyes only business communication.

We use Mailchimp for all of our email marketing, which includes two monthly newsletters and emails regarding educational opportunities. We are able to target our unique audiences using Mailchimp. When I first joined this organization, Mailchimp was already in use. We switched to a few other providers and have recently subscribed again to Mailchimp.
  • Professional templates
  • User-friendly
  • Nonprofit discount
  • Customer service
  • Audience tagging
  • Analytic results
In my experience, we have had issues with different customer service representatives providing different answers and sometimes, incorrect answers. Additionally, the audience targeting with tags tends to add or not add the appropriate audience/members. This may not be well-suited for small businesses that do not have a dedicated person for communications. The templates are very user-friendly and clean-looking.

At NEON ID, we use Mailchimp as a tool for mass mailing to customers and communicating with brands. We mainly use Mailchimp to bring our customers back to the NEON ID platform to conduct more brand interactions. By sending personalized emails to our customers, we are able to provide them with a better user experience and keep them engaged with our platform - we even experiment with different groups based on their psychometrics so it's helpful to send multiple cohorts slightly different versions so messages appeal to them. Additionally, we also use Mailchimp to communicate with brands and encourage them to use the NEON ID platform for more surveys, to ask questions, and to interact with users who provide their consent.
We value Mailchimp's compliance with GDPR and CCPA, which is why we chose to use the tool. The privacy and security of our users' data is a top priority for us, and Mailchimp's respect for these regulations is a huge deal for us. However, we do not use many of the extra tools that Mailchimp offers because we have HubSpot for CRM. We don't want Mailchimp to keep building out competitive work, and HubSpot provides us with everything we need to manage our customer relationships effectively.
Overall, Mailchimp has been a valuable tool for us at NEON ID, helping us to maintain a strong relationship with our customers and brands while keeping their data secure and private.
  • Parse mailing lists
  • Keep on white lists for email
  • Making it quick to send a mass email
  • Stop trying to be a full marketing suite - this distracts from the core marketing automation
  • More integrations with new AI tools
  • The UI needs a refresh, it feels outdated and slow
Mailchimp as a free or low-cost solution for small businesses to get an email newsletter or regular comms with customers out is a winner. The simplicity of adding a CSV of people and building an email in the app is good, although it feels like it's gotten slower with the acquisition.

Mailchimp as a CRM and a market platform is too much. I prefer an approach that links the best of the best apps together with integrations as opposed to building out every one of these apps into superapps that do all things.

Also, Mailchimp feels like it is nickel-and-diming us a lot now. Not a fan of that.

I use Mailchimp to send out regular newsletters to my subscribers and clients. In it, I often talk about my new videos or blog posts, I talk about offers and discounts, and occasional nuggets of information and knowledge. My work is all about consulting with my clients on various issues, and I also teach and mentor students who want to learn to do what I do. I use Mailchimp to create and send out nice newsletters to all of them. I have a WordPress website, and I use some really nice plugins to implement sign-up forms on my site. Plus, the newsletters are also mobile-friendly, which means my subscribers can read them on their computers or phones, wherever they prefer.
  • Email Series that introduces a new subscriber to my products & services.
  • An intuitive & user-friendly method to design your newsletter.
  • A nice way for people who have a smaller subscriber base to run a newsletter service.
  • In the free plan, one can only have one mailing list. It shouldn't matter as long as you don't exceed a certain total subscriber count.
  • It isn't easy to change the content and email sequences of introductory email series.
Mailchimp is a great starting point for anyone who wants to start running a newsletter -- especially if they don't have many subscribers. While it is easy to upgrade, it may not be necessary if you don't have more than a certain number of subscribers. However, if you need to reach out more frequently or have more subscribers, you may want to look at the paid plan. The free plan won't be enough.

I use it for a marketing newsletter for my travel agent client. She advertises a variety of trips she is offering to her clients. I also use it personally for my business as a weekly newsletter and sales opportunity.
  • User friendly design
  • Automation is easy to implement
  • Provides an easy way to re-send to unopened users
  • It would be nice to have an eyedropper to match colors vs. the current color picker
  • Could have more attractive templates
Mailchimp has always been well-suited for my medium-sized clients. I have also been using it to market to my own prospective clients and like the ease of use. I suppose a large enterprise may need more tracking capabilities, and segmentation, but for small to medium businesses, it works quite well.

We used Mailchimp is a robust email marketing platform that supports our business. It is a top marketing automation platform that offers template design, campaign testing, and on-the-go reports. Its free plan provides segmentation, basic automation, and pre-designed templates, while paid plans offer split testing, custom automation workflows, and advanced targeting. Tracking and follow-up are easy, and campaigns are ethical and have a great delivery rate.
  • Integration and usability.
  • Excellent marketing automation.
  • Email templates are plentiful.
  • Simple drag-and-drop editor.
  • Excellent reporting and design.
  • Archiving contacts is manual.
  • Email data needs to be clarified and detailed.
  • Its metrics are inaccurate, and it needs more automation.
Mailchimp is a powerful campaign setup tool with features like template design, campaign testing, and on-the-go reports. It offers a friendly UI, customization options, email deliverability, and easy setup. Its server sends emails without blocking the domain, improving email deliverability and reducing server load. However, it lacks automation, segmentation alternatives, and A/B testing.

We use Mailchimp to contact out 14,000+ email subscribers 1-3 times a week. great product! the only down side is *if* a user wished to be removed from your system, you have to go in and manually do it there is not an auto option. as a nonprofit that isn't horrible and does not ahppen often but i can see it being so if you have a much larger data base.
  • Search engine for subscribers is easy to use
  • power through spam filters
  • respect the recipients as well as us the user.
  • Auto unsubscribe for users. right now we manually have to remove or update someone's information on their profile.
Frequent Updates to your followers is great! Targeting specific groups in that data base, I have less experience with because we use other platforms but I would like to use an all in one program if possible.
