Potential customers usually find us by searching on Google but after they've found us we want to build a lasting relationship and strengthen our brand. So to avoid that people visit the website and after they've read the information they forget us we use our newsletter to keep providing valuable information so they become gradually more aware of our initiative and what we can offer as value to them.
  • Integrations with a multitude of plugins and web applications via its API
  • Digests of RSS feeds
  • Flexible anotation with additional information about subscribers
  • Email flows are not as flexible as I would like them to be - alternative email service providers have better solutions.
  • Backwards compatibility - once something is configured, especially for the flows I expect them to work as they should - since they've added features suddenly older email flows stopped working reliably - support couldn't really find the root cause.
  • When I started using the product 10 years ago, the system was simple to use. Today lots of features that I'm not using were added making the system more complex in its use.
  • Since the acquisition from the founders to Intuit, I feel the focus has shifted to increasing prices while the value from my perspective hasn't changed much.
Well suited:

- Ecommerce type of businesses can benefit because features were added to help business owners maximize the shopping cart value and avoid shopping cart abandonment.
- Simple newsletters based on RSS feeds or manually written

Less suited:

- Advanced email flows (if-then-else) based on visitors actions on websites are difficult to implement.
- Difficult to use as a email system to support staying in touch with users of a SaaS application you've developed.

We use Mailchimp as a way to generate leads through custom forms embedded on websites. Easy to customize and easy to implement, Mailchimp is usually our top choice when suggesting a company's first lead generation form. Clients looking to build a mailing list or to target visitors interested in products or services can use Mailchimp to build a free list of potential clients.
  • Easy form building gets you up and running quickly.
  • Segmentation of contacts allows for grouping of contacts for email blasts.
  • Drag 'n drop email builders can create industry standard emails that look great.
  • Embed codes for websites which can be easily copy and pasted onto websites for instant usage.
  • Pricing structure could be adjusted. The jump from Free to Essentials may be overkill for some clients who don't need the extra send capacity, but want access to A/B testing, etc.
  • Other lead generator / email capture software allow for better HTML / customization of emails campaigns.
Mailchimp is well suited to companies / individuals who want to capture emails via form on their website or a link in an email. Mailchimp is relatively easy to set up and manage. They also have decent reporting tools and segregation tools. The email visual builder is fairly decent as well. Overall, it's a great 'first' lead capture tool while you're still figuring out what you really need.

Mailchimp allows me to quickly draft and send high-quality emails to our subscribers on a user-friendly and easy-to-use platform. I'm able ot make customizeable email templates for consistency and send out newsletters to our subscribers quickly and efficiently. Mailchimp also hosts a variety of features to track your engagement, allowing you to strategize and better draft content to appeal your target audience.
  • User-friendly platform
  • Customizable features to fit brand image
  • Engagement analytics
  • Automation
  • Scheduled or recurring email campaigns
  • No affiliate marketing links
When you need a consistent email campaign that you can design and customize to fit your brand's image or identity, Mailchimp is an excellent tool to use. It's best suited for ecommerce or small business use (and not so much for personal or blog use). It presents a user-friendly interface that's quite easy to use, allowing even novice campaign managers to utilize its features and pick up on it quickly.

We use Mailchimp for eCommerce customer Automations and email marketing campaigns. Mailchimp is synced to our eCommerce platform and is easy to use for most of the marketing people at the customer. Overall, pretty simple plug-and-play Email marketing system.
  • Email Automations
  • Welcome series emails
  • Email Marketing / Promotional Emails
  • The design of the emails feels a bit outdated
  • Previews of emails on light and dark mode would be useful
Ease of use signing up new customers on Mailchimp; its not as advanced as some other options, but its quick and most people can understand the platform pretty quickly.

We use Mailchimp to invite pasts guests to upcoming events. Instead of mass BCC emailing hundreds of people we use Mailchimp. It is the best service we have found but leaves a lot to hope for. Before Covid, we were using it at least twice per month for invitations. It's been very useful and satisfactory but hard to work with in terms of creating repeating events versus having to duplicate an event and send the invite again for the next event. It's not very intuitive even for someone who has spent the bulk of their working career using the internet. We continue to use it but wish it would get better.
  • Bulk invites.
  • Importing contacts.
  • Handling bulk activities.
  • Creating invite.
  • User Interface.
  • Creating repeating events.
We really like the ability Mailchimp gives us to mass email event invites to past attendees. It's great for that but lacks ease of use in creating the invitation itself. Additionally, we struggle to easily invite people using the same invitation to the next event. It's just not a simple straightforward process. We've run probably at least 50 events and still have a hard time with the software, but it's the cheapest and best option we've been able to find.

I use Mailchimp to send weekly, monthly, and special event emails to my email list of subscribers who read my content. It helps me organize my contacts, add tags to different types of content and readers, and easily create email templates to send out. I have over 100 contacts within Mailchimp.
  • Tagging content
  • Drag and drop editor
  • Maintaining lists of contacts
  • Segments in the free plan
  • A wider variety of templates available on the free plan
  • More automations for free plan
If you don't need to segment your audience (tag usage is enough for smaller audiences) and don't need a ton of options and templates to communicate with, Mailchimp has you covered.

However, if you are looking to have a larger audience with more segments and automation, you'll have to pay more than other, more generous email providers, as Mailchimp is pricer than many others on the market.

I use MailChimp to keep in touch with my newsletter list. I like MailChimp because of the visual builders, the quick ability to customize logos and colors, and the fact I can use it to create a newsletter signup form to keep building my list. I have used MailChimp for my business for the past three years and highly recommend it to any small business owners. I use it often with my clients who have a small leadership team and no marketing department since the Free plan is fairly robust. Companies can begin building their list using MailChimp and can grow their list quite a bit before they need to pay a monthly fee.
  • Email Newsletters.
  • Email list building.
  • Email sign up forms to embed on a website.
  • Email list management.
  • Auto-responders.
  • Email sequences.
  • The login authentication gets cumbersome when managing emails for clients.
  • Having more email templates to start from would be helpful.
Great email marketing solution for an under-50-person company. The Free plan can accomplish so much. Drag and drop builder is very intuitive. It's easy to set up templates for clients and let them go in and add content. I appreciate the large file size notices that make it easy to keep file sizes low by editing inline.

I am a struggling artist who just became a client of ASF (Art Storefronts), which provides marketing coaching and a website designed for artists. ASF is integrated with Mailchimp, so we are directed to create a Mailchimp account. Literally, the second I created an account, I was notified that my account was suspended for violation of terms. In my correspondence with them (there is no phone support for free accounts), they requested a government ID to be submitted via a Google form so they could investigate. In my experience, they give NO timeline and NO specific reason my account was suspended. I feel I might as well be talking to their chatbot. It has been over 3 days since I submitted proof that I am who I am, while in the meantime, the completion of my website has been delayed; hence there is no QR code to give to new contacts at the live shows I am doing these coming months. I would gladly use another email marketing provider like Mailerlite (who actually responded immediately to my inquiries and seemed customer-centered), but if I do, then the auto-sync of my contacts into outgoing emails will be disabled due to ASF's integration with Mailchimp. In my experience, Mailchimp is NOT customer-centered.
  • They have a website
  • In my experience, care about your customers
  • In my experience, answer customer questions
I never got the opportunity to speak to how well Mailchimp works since they suspended my account upon creation of it, without, in my experience, giving me a specific reason or a timeline as to when I would they would fix it. So, unfortunately, I cannot give any example of when they would be well-suited.

We use Mailchimp for email blasts/newsletters. We send out a monthly newsletter to all of our clients--over 10,000 in our database. We design and write our own articles. The software is great and easy to use. There are a lot of templates to use or you can create your own design. It also helps you track your open rate and who unsubscribed. The statistics are very helpful to know what is working. You can do A/B testing and you can also resend to people who didn't open it on the first try. We have been using it for years and I have used other software that is similar but I like this one better. The features are better and the templates are more up to date. There are a lot of other features to use but we basically use it for the newsletters. I have created landing pages with Mailchimp. I do recommend this software over others that are out there and try the free version and if you like it then upgrade to the paid version. The database portion is easy to track too and add new people. I can't say enough nice things about Mailchimp.
  • Newsletter
  • Datebase
  • Landing pages
  • more templates
  • lower price
It is the best for sending out newsletters and tracking the results. The templates are easy to use and adding links and dropping in pictures is simple too. The statistics make it a complete software for small and large businesses. Try it and you will dump your current way of doing things.

We use Mailchimp to communicate with our guests about upcoming promotions, events, and happenings at our company. Anything we think our guests would be excited to be in the know about we will use Mailchimp to email our database of about 20,000 to let them know what is coming down the pipeline.
  • Easy to add photos to your email and cropping them if you need to within Mailchimp.
  • Duplicating text blocks when creating your email is simple.
  • Uploading contacts is quick and easy.
  • Not a fan of some of the font choices, it would be nice to have more.
  • How campaigns are organized I would like to see this organized differently so older campaigns are easier to find if you need to refer back to an old one.
  • It would be nice if the reporting gave a little more info on if your email performance with not just open rates but clicks, etc.
Mailchimp is perfect for anyone looking for an easy-to-use platform for creating email marketing campaigns. It's very easy to use and learn. Mailchimp can also be integrated with several other platforms ie WordPress to capture people that come to your website to sign up for your newsletter, Salesforce, Facebook, and more.

We are using MailChimp as one of the tools for user data management and preparing and sending out newsletters. Also, we are using the website widget for newsletter signup. It was crucial for us at this stage to find a free tool - specifically for the website widget and gathering email addresses for newsletter.
  • Installing a widget for submitting email address for newsletter database
  • Preparing email templates for newsletter
  • Customizing the widget
  • Sending out newsletters is only available in the paid plan
  • Managing users database could be made easier (we found it easier in competition's tools)
Mailchimp suited us well in the area of installing and customizing the widget used on our website for gathering emails from people willing to signup for our newsletter. The submitted addresses are automatically flowing to the database where they are stored. Managing them could have been easier but it is decent enough. We were lacking the possibility to send out newsletter in the free plan.

It is being used by my firm as a way to stay connected with customers and prospects. It is primarily used to create a quarterly newsletter that is mailed. I have also used it to field marketing research studies. I integrate SurveyMonkey into the MailChimp platform which I have found easy to do.
  • Provides ready-to-use templates.
  • Very intuitive.
  • Great value.
  • A few more designs for the templates are needed.
  • Can be a bit "clunky" at times.
  • A few more template formats.
If you're just getting started with email marketing, a great tool to begin with is MailChimp. There are a lot of email platforms on the market, but I have found MailChimp to provide the necessary "horsepower" to start my email marketing journey. I recommend that you evaluate this as a possible solution.

I help get new wellness professionals get set up in their Mailchimp software as it's still one of the most popular starter autoresponders, due to its affordable price point and robust (from the view of someone newer in their business) capabilities. Mailchimp makes it easy to build and nurture a list - especially with their features that have been added in the past couple years, albeit making it a bit more complex and less intuitive.
I personally use Mailchimp as a backup to my regular autoresponder system as I've had my account for over 7 years and it has always been reliable - usually running a couple opt-in campaigns into it at any given time.
  • Price point.
  • Integrations.
  • Commitment to adapt to meet user needs.
  • Ability to give access to VAs.
  • With the added features, the platform is no longer intuitive and easy to figure out.
  • Unless VA is a recognized Mailchimp Agency Partner, it uses a "seat" to give them access, otherwise password must be shared and coordination set to pass off the verification code.
  • It seems like MC is trying to compete with platforms like ConvertKit, Keap, etc., but the UX is extremely more overwhelming and less effective. It's currently stuck in limbo between beginners software and a full on CRM.
  • Since they are constantly adapting to meet the times, their platform changes pretty frequently which can be frustrating.
  • The email autoresponder capabilities could be improved greatly.
  • The user interface is trendy, but is VERY fatiguing to the eyes if you work in Mailchimp for any extended period of time.
Mailchimp will probably always be my go-to for those who are just starting their list or online business, as it is easy to use for basic functions.

However, I don't think it's a great option for anyone with a sizable list who needs advanced email marketing capabilities. Even with their most recent changes, the interface is hard to look at for any extended period of time and is cheesy. To be honest, it may be my prejudice from working with other email platforms and the difference in user interface. For someone who starts and grows with Mailchimp, it could very well handle more complex functions considering the newer features such as "Journey" automations. But it still doesn't feel very intuitive where other platforms are.

I use Mailchimp to keep a list of contacts, acquire new contacts, and automate emails.
  • Automates emails - weekly blog updates, new user welcome emails
  • Wordpress-enabled plugins for acquiring contacts
  • It is often difficult to locate and edit automations and landing pages that I have created in the past.
  • I would like to see the free version offer the ability to categorize contacts.
  • I would like RSS feed to pull in featured images
Mailchimp is great for acquiring and storing email addresses. Some of the features are difficult to use. For example, I would like to create different welcome emails originating from different links. I was not able to do this in a streamlined way. I ended up making a landing page, and then it was hard to get back to it on the Mailchimp site to edit it later.

The companies I’ve used Mailchimp for are primarily b2c and some b2b. Therefore, their objectives are different though each is the same underlying intention. The intention is to inform clients and create awareness of their offerings. For instance, I worked for a cannabis accessories company that wanted to inform its users of new products. So I had to plan accordingly by placing the products in strategic zones to not seem so sales-focused. As a result, I placed information about the product and its uses to highlight its uniqueness in it. This way customers know why purchasing this product is going to be beneficial to their uses. Mailchimp is perfect for this since its creative tools make your information seem appealing. No one has the time to sit a long dull email so Mailchimp template creator allows you to do it effectively.
  • Template creation
  • Organize mailing list
  • Create email campaigns
  • Import mailing list
  • Analytics
  • Email planning
  • Outreach
  • User interface
  • Integrating html
Outreach marketing is not ideal if you are looking to use Mailchimp in my opinion. Mailchimp is more suited for inbound marketing like newsletters, product releases, or event publications. Therefore, it’s best to have a good mailing list before getting into Mailchimp. Otherwise, don’t expect to reach new customers and create possible lead opportunities.

Mailchimp is becoming Intuit. It no longer is owned by two entrepreneurs with genuine desires to help small businesses. We can see a significant change recently with policies and procedures that have forced us to go to other email solutions.
  • Basic email builder
  • Basic email list management
  • Website builder
  • Automation
  • Analytics
We started a new client on Mailchimp who had about 500 emails from their Shopify store. The list would not automatically sync so we exported the list. After sending the first email campaign the list was archived because 12 subscribers reported the email (all but one from Yahoo email). We could not use the solution and moved them to another solution. We have started recommending other solutions and found the support for partners to be disappointing.

Mailchimp is essential in delivering our customer journeys from welcome messages, abandoned carts, checkout, value-add content, and product releases. We are big advocates of Mailchimp and even participated in their What's In Store video series. We send a high frequency of emails monthly while leveraging their robust segmentation tools and merge tags for customized content delivery.
  • Segmentation
  • User Interface and usability
  • Design templates
  • dynamic content functionality
  • Canva integration
  • Automation triggers for Shopify integration
Works well as a stand-alone marketing tool as well as integrated with CRMs. Although if using Salesforce, I'd recommend using their Pardot platform for integration purposes.

We utilize Mailchimp to send our monthly newsletters to our customers and our partners, and also to send our email blasts for things such as holiday hour update reminders. Mailchimp solves our problem of not being able to send our customizable, template-friendly email blasts. It allows us to stay organized and connected to our different types of audiences, and build our campaigns based on who we want to reach.
  • Organize contacts.
  • Allows for customization.
  • Email marketing.
  • Newsletter creation.
  • Customizing templates.
  • Automation
  • Large edits to customer base.
Mailchimp is well suited for sending out quick & simple emails if you don't have a specific design in mind. The templates are great to use and easy to fill in your necessary information. It's also well-suited for sending out different email campaigns based on the audience since you can easily divide your audience by tags and send campaigns to different tags. Mailchimp is less appropriate if you want an extremely customizable experience. It can be tough to use design-wise, and I find it a little difficult to make large edits to your audience. You have to go into your audience members one by one, so if there are any big changes, it can take a while.

I use Mailchimp to send out my monthly newsletter. I've used it since I launched my newsletter three years ago. It's easy to use and free. I can focus on creating the content and not worry about the formatting, because in Mailchimp I can replicate my campaigns.

Mailchimp also allowed me to create a pop-up subscription form for my newsletter. That has helped me grow my email list. Most of the latest subscriptions have come via that form.

I really like it and often recommend it.
  • It allows you to easily design the newsletter and offers different templates. Very easy to drop in text and photos.
  • It is free as long as your list is less than 2,000 - which is really important to a small business owner on a budget.
  • You can set it up to send out a "welcome" message when new people sign up for the newsletter.
  • Hmmm...I really like the ease of use. I guess it could maybe automate more things - it could "learn" your habits and anticipate adding the date automatically, etc.
  • I wish it would be easier to replicate my monthly campaign.
  • I wish Mailchimp would add more ways to grow my list.
For small businesses, it's ideal for newsletters and other campaigns. Free and easy to use. I often recommend it to my clients and to other freelancers. I just wrote a post about my favorite free and low-cost tools and included Mailchimp on that list. I'd rate it a 9 out of 10.

For bigger businesses or those with bigger lists, it might be more expensive. If you have more than 2,000 people on your list, you might want to evaluate other solutions.

We used Mailchimp to deliver infrequent updates to members of our newsletter. Our mobile app would send out emails related to early access and beta test updates, as well as company-wide news related to the app. We only used Mailchimp about once and every 6 weeks to send an email, and to no more than 3,000 subscribers at a time.
  • Incredibly easy to use interface
  • Tons of tutorials and help resources
  • Easy integration with GDPR
  • The pricing structure is not ideal for infrequent newsletters with a large amount of subscribers
  • Pricing is confusing and challenging to understand
  • The editor is buggy, still, after years of using it
Mailchimp is a great solution if email marketing is a necessity for your business. If you are sending frequent, weekly (at least) newsletters, then Mailchimp is both a reliable and cost-effective tool. If you are like us, however, sending infrequent emails, the monthly pricing structure is prohibitively expensive and not ideal for our use case.

We are into the B2C business. We started using Mailchimp as an Email marketing tool, Later we realize it is not the correct tool for our business as other channels like SMS, Push and WhatsApp were missing. Integration with GTM and API is not available. Later we decided to go ahead with the omnichannel tool.
  • Account Creation
  • Mass Mailing
  • Data Management
  • GTM intgeration
  • API and Webhooks supports
I rate this tool 4 out of 10 because it has limited features and I don't feel it is the right tool for a B2C environment.

I use Mailchimp to send product updates, surveys, and marketing emails to our client base. It's a tool used to connect with and maintain relationships with our growing customer base while we make changes and updates to our offering. I have also used it to set up drip marketing campaigns to connect with buys that we have not had consistent contact with but would like to keep in our network.
  • UI is inviting and fun to look at
  • User permissions are easy to set
  • Sales process was very easy
  • Marketing email creator UI and UX is difficult to understand and also difficult to make it do what you would like it to do. The options do not allow you to customize to the extent you would want to.
  • Customer lists and email address database management is difficult. Modifying a list in Excel, deleting your current list in Mailchimp, them uploading your new one is annoying.
  • Options are sometimes not clear. An example of this- I had a marketing email ready to send and wanted it to send out the next day. The options after setting it for my desired time make it seem like it will send right when you click to accept button. Little things like this are common.
Easy enough to use to send out a quick marketing email to a large list but not easy enough to use to consider the tool for long-term use. The functionality is there but once I realized what you need out of a tool like this it became apparent that Mailchimp might not have a few core elements that I needed to consider for long-term use.

I use Mailchimp to write newsletters to my audience. I have about 600 emails shared between 3 lists which I created prior to Mailchimp changing their terms and only granting one list with the free account. My business helps people who want to adopt healthy habits to feel energized in their mind-body and stop getting caught in the self-sabotaging habits of a chaotic mind.
  • Linking with other applications integrations.
  • Organizing audiences.
  • Landing pages.
  • When writing content, the interface isn't user-friendly for fonts and settings.
  • I'd like to create more than one list with the free plan.
  • Inserting first names in the text isn't being displayed in the test email. I've had several occasions where the </> the frame was present in the test email. But when the real email was sent, it read as "Dear " with no first name even though I had inserted it. That's been very frustrating.
Great for small business owners and people who write in one language only. It's also great to integrate with many different applications so that when someone schedules an appointment on my Calendly for example, they get automatically added to my Mailchimp list. Not so great for someone who wants to have a landing page with a paying feature for an event or a service for example.
