Gong genuinely helps me grow as a Customer Success Professional in so many ways. The tips and tricks I have taken away from replaying business videos have helped me tailor my approach to meetings. The ability to refer back to meeting notes (and pick out key moments) are tremendously usual when researching client solutions. The non-invasive, but important prompts to follow up with my clients keep me on point and help me foster trust in my business relationships. Customer Success relies heavily on retention and the basis for retention is trust. I highly recommend integrating Gong into your #techstack to all virtual-client facing professionals.

At first, I just used Gong to rewatch videos that contained important client talking points or to view meetings that I was not able to make. I loved that it gave me the option to speed up the talking, read the transcript, and leave notes for my team. As I began using Gong from a management standpoint, we began implementing scorecards which allowed me to provide feedback to the team on what they were doing well, and what we could improve on in future calls. Diving even deeper, I learned that you can set up parameters and filters to easily find calls that fit specific criteria. My org focused heavily on client goals and objectives during the kick-off message and this allowed me to easily see if 1) we were asking and engaging on this topic and 2) an easy bookmark and reference point to find this information. Gong has been crucial for our org from sales to CSMs, and implementation. Makes my life a whole lot easier and holds us accountable for what we say!

If you are a team who needs to review calls to see what was promised and said - Gong is very useful. The transcript makes it easy to zone in on keywords. Similarly, it is easy to bucket calls with specific keywords and export to a CSV to digest outside of their platform and really dig into call data.

Being able to listen and analyze my team’s calls so I can coach them to have more effective client conversations. I can also see how often they’re having calls, the call duration. Lastly, I’m able to refer back to the calls, watch the video, and read the transcript.

Gong is great for reviewing my team's calls, finding coaching opportunities for how we can better implement customers or position our product. Gong is not great at helping me find customers at risk for attrition. Attrition risk and renewing customers is my biggest priority right now, so Gong would be 10x as useful if it can help me prioritize the accounts that are the biggest risk through analyzing emails and calls.

We use Gong to record and transcribe Sales calls , as well as help with follow up tasks, and deal pipeline/forecast tracking. Gong has a wealth of features that enables me to go back and review what I said on a call, what the prospect said, what I need to do in order to follow up effectively/action items, and more. It helps us track key questions and phrases said during each stage of the sales process to improve our discovery framework.

Gong is great for tech sales teams who have frequent online calls on Zoom, Google Meet, etc with prospects and customers and would like to ensure accurate notes, timeline follow ups, and seamless handoff/customer service experiences. It also works well for coaching to ensure large teams are all using specific frameworks on calls and bringing up certain questions or topics (training usage). Gong would not be useful for a team with mostly in person meetings or a self service product where customers are not spoken to often.

We use Gong to help us improve on the phones when talking to prospects and also to help us prep for upcoming calls. It allows us to go in to review our performance. We can see areas we did well and areas for improvement. As well as review the information to make sure we didn't miss anything in our call notes for the next person to review.

  • The UI is really easy to use and makes the process so easy to do
  • The customer support is AMAZING and are so helpful and responsive
  • The actual transcription of the words. It struggles occasionally to get the correct words, but it really doesn't impact the review much because you are listening to the call, so you can hear what is being said.
Anyone in sales, Gong, is a must to help your reps improve and also help hold people accountable. It has helped me several times to show where I had qualified a meeting so that the AE that was trying to say it wasn't an opportunity now had to flip my opp because it in fact was. I have also seen this the other way in favor of AEs. So it really just helps reps be better and get better at their job

Well, to start with, I use the call recordings to share with my customer, snippets, and transcripts. I also use it to understand the matrices of the call and learn what I could've done better. On the other hand, I also use it to ensure my notes are up to date and the reminders for deals at risk is a terrific feature Gong has to offer.

Gong is very well suited for employee training and for Sales professionals to dig more about the call in between the lines and project deals according to customer and find ways to add trigger events. Gong also makes it unbelievably easy to track opportunities and follow-ups. Only if the transcription could be faster, Gong will be the best SaaS tool ever.

We use Gong for a few things at Utility Cloud. We use it for prospect meetings, that way we don't have to take as many notes while on a call. We also use it for training purposes. It is very helpful to see what makes a good call versus a bad call.

Gong is wonderful and has helped me grow from being a sales development representative to an account executive. It helps me be a better sales professional by allowing me the opportunity to listen to my calls, see data/analytics, and listen to my colleagues' calls. It has been extremely valuable as an SDR when I first started to listen to old reps and hear how they have become successful. This has continued as I am an account executive now and can listen to seasoned professionals and how they handled discovery calls, demos, pricing discussions, etc. It is also helpful for me if I do not have time to write down notes, I can go listen back to my calls to ensure I am up to speed on my opportunities.

Gong is great for Customer Success to review calls after the fact, take notes, and share internally or with customers. It's so easy to share after the call, and never having to remember to press record is such a lifesaver. I often will share recordings internally to get feedback from leadership, share examples with a new CSM, or to share feedback with dev teams. To customers - I will share training calls, feedback from their teams and more. The ability to search transcripts is amazing, and helps finding specific topics. A few things I would like to see: -more translation features, I work with teams outside the US, and sometimes seeing quick transcriptions would be great. -Pulling in the email of all users that join a call, sometimes I need to grab emails, and it would be great to grab from Gong.

We use Gong to record our calls, both internal and external. For internal calls, we will record important meetings that not everyone can attend, so that they can go back and listen to it later. This allows us to have time-sensitive meetings even when someone is out. For external calls, we record everything (with permission). This helps out tremendously with training as there is a library of calls to go through with examples of almost every outcome possible. New hires will be able to hear how pitch calls go and how to handle certain issues that may come up. It also allows us to not be caught up with taking notes on the calls and be present, since you can just look up important details and topics mentioned after the call.
  • The transcript feature is handy and mostly very accurate
  • It allows you to organize calls in the way that you want (by topic, by outcome, by step, etc.)
  • It is able to be integrated with the tools that we use
  • The transcript isn't perfect, but you can determine where you need to listen to from it
  • The search feature could be improved, sometimes it is hard to find a specific call if what you searched isn't in the title
It is an awesome recording app which allows you to record conversations in real time. This is very helpful when you do not have the time to take detailed notes or you want to feel present in the conversation. A time it is less appropriate are for routine internal calls of smaller importance or 1:1s where you would not want the whole company to see/hear what was said.

We use Gong in a variety of ways. C-level takes a look at calls from sales reps to be up to date with the market. I also rely on Gong for note-taking and appreciate that it sends me a recap after every call. Most importantly, both my prospects and myself can refer back to the calls to review anything that we may have missed.

The best scenario for me is my ability to demo and not have to worry about taking so many notes. By taking all the notes that I need, it takes away from my focus on the actual call. I like that I can revisit, see the transcript, and even maybe pick up on things that I may have missed on the original call.

There are many roles that tied to one account, but not everyone is able to join all client calls. Gong is great because I can re-watch calls to remember key points that were discussed or I can review calls from years ago that I need context about (ie: onboarding experience). This breaks down all silos and gives information to any user of Gong.

  • I like sending emails from my own ESP. If Gong had an easy way to copy all meeting attendees email addresses in one click, that would be great.
I think Gong is well suited for any large organization that needs to have one source of truth for client facing meetings. With Gong, this can be leveraged for all teams (product, sales, marketing, success, support, etc) to gather context, feedback, strategy, and anything that would be important to learn more about the client. I think this tool is imperative for tech companies because the platform/relationship/discussions may be complex and multiple team members will need to go back to review important conversations.

Really gives us insights to the conversations with prospects we have and defines what hat we spend our time on In The meetings. We are able to go back and review past meetings and see exactly how much time we spent talking to prospects in the meeting and how much time they talked as well.

i love having gong as my scribe. i cannot multitask very well where i am engaged in conversation whilst taking notes. having gong is a safety net a caveman like me needs.

Gong helps us to provide a transcript to all our meetings and records and uploads them automatically for us to review it for the future. It's a great tool to go back and learn how the meetings/conversations could be better and see if there's anything that was missed our during the conversation that was important to take note.

  • Transcripts might not be the most accurate sometimes.
  • Being able to link the gong call link to our calendar meetings to go back and review would be a good feature.

Gong has been ultimately very useful for me as I'm able to look back and track back conversations that have happened months/years ago, as it's hard to keep track of every meeting and the conversation spoke. It's also great that I can create snippets of important areas in the conversation for me to look back and write notes.

We use Gong to ensure all calls follow best practices and are coaching opportunities--whether I'm on the call or not. It greatly speeds the ramp of new hires and flags great behavior at scale.

We used Gong for sales call data. Allowing us to understand in-depth metrics of each call, as well as using the tool for training purposes for new hires. It also allowed us to compile a list of calls we found to be useful to sure with those who were unable to attend, wether that be internal or external.

The main use is low-tenured teams and new managers with a strong focus on coaching reps both on the sales process and consultative selling of our solutions.
Also, as a learning tool for new reps and to understand better how some industries operate.
It occasionally is used to refer back to notes and work deals backward in order to fill in other teams coming into our current deals.

Be mindful of prices for smaller clients that can not probably afford the prices charged. Not suitable if you are looking for sales management software, the deal alerts are not yet that good.

We didn't have a proper onboarding program, and they were implementing it as part of our training program - we were the first batch of salespeople to use this method of onboarding and training.
On top of that, we utilize it as quality control. It was always awkward and difficult to schedule a sales session with the managers (2 managers, 18 salespeople), so using gong allows us to get quality feedback.
  • Recommendations to improve (silence time, speaking ratio, etc.)
  • Source of absolute truth! So easy to see what meetings have been done, and how it was done. No more he says she says
  • Transcription - it has been accurate, and helps when trying to learn how to handle rejections
  • At the time, there weren't a lot of integrations yet.
  • You still need to tell users recording is in session to be GDPR friendly - wish there was a better way to do this
Appropriate when:
There's some kind of repetition and success formula that you're trying to find out. You have a big team, and you're trying to find something that works. Then gong will be helpful. In my experience, B2B SaaS will almost always benefit from it.

Less well suited when:
You're making big deals over a small number of very specific clients. I worked for a little bit in government and oil&gas deals, and everything in each deal varies wildly - can't see gong being that big of a help here.

We use Gong on a daily basis to understand "what's going on" in our sales conversations with customers. It's great because it's easy to get up and running with basic functionality but the more you learn and understand, the more you can extract in terms of insights. Using Gong has especially been helpful in the last few months as we've adopted a new sales methodology globally. It allows us to measure adoption and outcomes and zero in on any coaching opportunities. We also get to hear very quickly our voice of the customer which is extremely important as it's a part of our company values.

  • Working faster by listening to only Qs asked, or only the customer, or only the seller
  • There doesn't seem to be an "AND" option in the search/filters, only "OR"

  • Too many features that are often rearranging so I get overwhelmed by what's most impactful for my team
It's just a necessary expense at this point if you want to seriously understand your customer and your team while driving measurable outcomes.
