Why HubSpot Should be Added to Your Marketing Efforts

HubSpot is currently used across our Marketing and Sales teams, and our leadership team is able to access the platform for reporting purposes. We leverage HubSpot's CRM, Marketing and Sales Pro features to be our all encompassing marketing and sales platform. This helps us catalogue our prospects, clients, deals, forecasting and especially content creation.
  • HubSpot is great at helping you implement best practices in your content creation.
  • HubSpot has a very versatile contact management system that makes it very easy to track movement with prospects.
  • HubSpot support is always ready to help if you need it. I recommend calling vs. emailing though.
Cons
  • Some reports aren't as easy to read as you may like.
  • I'd like to be able to build out my dashboard a bit more.
  • Emailing support can be a longer process than necessary. It's best to just call.
HubSpot is best when you need an all encompassing solution. If you just need a few of its features, it won't be as cost-effective. For example, if you just need an email marketing provider, HubSpot probably isn't the most affordable option - but if you're tying the rest of your content creation into the mix - it is the perfect platform.

Using HubSpot is like adding another employee to your team

As the founder of a digital sales, marketing and branding agency, I use HubSpot daily, not only for myself, but also for my clients. I manage my contacts in HubSpot's CRM; I use their blogging platform to publish articles; I use their social media component to publish content to my social networks; I use their reporting and SEO components to monitor traffic by sources and optimize my website accordingly for search engines; I use their segmentation and automation components (lists and workflows) to deliver the right content to the right people at the right time; I even have my website hosted right on the HubSpot COS to take full advantage of their "Smart" technology consisting of Smart content and Smart forms. I also use HubSpot for my CTA's, landing pages and of course, email.
  • Blogging: HubSpot's blogging component is extremely intuitive. Providing you with valuable SEO recommendations to make sure each post is optimized to its fullest potential. Not to mention it is extremely user friendly and affords a marketer of any skill level the luxury of publishing remarkable content.
  • Email: HubSpot's emailing component is becoming more and more robust each day. With bigger and better analytics available, improving on your email marketing can be done rather easily. The emailing component is also extremely intuitive, making recommendations for the best time of day to send and works flawlessly as a marketing automation tool as well.
  • Continuing Education: The HubSpot Academy team provides HubSpot customers with an incredible amount of resources, live webinars, on-demand trainings and even certifications, that would make any marketing executive confident to know that their team has all of the resources necessary to work independently within the HubSpot software and acquire new capabilities every day.
  • HubSpot Support: The support at HubSpot is the best I have seen in any industry for any product or service. The support team there is always ready to answer questions and solve problems. And in the remote situation where they can't solve the problem right away, they will always, always, always call or email you back with their findings
Cons
  • Advanced Reporting: I really don't have anything to include in this section of the review but the one item that comes to mind, and HubSpot has improved their capabilities over the years, is the advanced reporting options. Custom report types and advanced reporting are more likely than not only available in the Enterprise Edition of the software.
If you are prepared to invest time into creating content and living in the software each day then there's nothing standing between you and your goals. If you're not prepared to have your team live in the software and become intimately familiar with everything it offers, then you might want to wait until you are. You are only going to get out of it what you put into it.

Easy-to-use tool but lacks personalization features and good reporting

We use HubSpot to email our Members and prospects and report on email performance. We also store some Member/prospect information for segmentation and personalization purposes. We integrate with some vendors through HubSpot so we can ingest information from them and email users accord to the vendor's recommendation depending on the situation (reactivation and re-engagement especially).
  • Easy to use
  • Contact details on Members
  • Email scheduling
Cons
  • Reporting
  • Building emails from HTML
  • Personalization for more than 2 segments
  • No SMS
Basic email creation through a template or simple image upload or template edits is fairly easy. Personalizing the content of an email for 2 segments is complex, for more than 2 segments, it is impossible. Basic reporting on email metrics (open and click rates, unsubscribed, etc.) is fine but more in-depth reporting functionalities are lacking. It is difficult to compare campaigns or get reporting for all campaigns sent during a specific timeframe.

We use HubSpot both for ourselves and for our clients. The most valuable piece for what we do (content marketing) is the combination of landing page/email workflow process.
  • The reporting is fantastic. It tracks anything and everything we need.
  • The automation process helps us most - the ability to create a workflow for triggers across a wide range of activities.
  • The outgoing email tools are very helpful and easy to use - both for the workflow process and for sending individual or group emails.
Cons
  • I wish there was more functionality in the app. It's great for reporting, but there doesn't seem to be an ability to DO much - like create an email or landing page, etc.
Cost does come into play. For smaller companies, HubSpot is a tough sell because the cost (to get the "good stuff") is $800-1000/month. Some of our clients/prospects just don't have that budget.

Best Software for Managing Marketing Campaigns at the 50,000 ft view

Rating: 10 out of 10
December 10, 2015
We are a HubSpot reseller so we're always recommending it to our clients. We manage HubSpot for them and utilize HubSpot for our own marketing purposes as well. Everybody in our organization interacts with HubSpot in some capacity, whether it's our web developer, social media manager, or content manager. Everyone has a function related to HubSpot.
  • The analytic reports do a great job of showing exact client ROI. We have an extremely low churn rate as Hubspot easily proves its value.
  • It's a huge time saver for us since we automate many tasks within each marketing campaign.
  • Hubspot does extremely well in managing highly complex marketing campaigns.
Cons
  • It's extremely easy to design a website with HubSpot's COS. However, there are a few features I would like to be available without requiring coding. I would rate HubSpot as perfect if you could easily add an overlay or similar lead-capture functions.
  • Some features are add-on products when they should be included. One example is the reports dashboard. It would be nice to have but not enough that we're willing to pay extra for it.
I would recommend HubSpot be used in any marketing environment that consists of 3 or more team members. HubSpot is essential in managing on-going digital marketing campaigns. I say you need at least 3 people in your marketing team but you could easily make it work by assigning the appropriate permissions within HubSpot to your contractors.
