We use Mailchimp for several of our clients. Mailchimp solves different problems for different clients ranging from basic communication, sending out offers, appointment reminders, and more.
  • Mailchimp keeps things very simple, which is beneficial if you have inexperienced users making edits.
  • Mailchimp is very good at communicating when you need to upgrade based on your list size. I never have to question a payment amount.
  • Mailchimp's automated emails are not very user friendly and stay fairly basic, which does not fit every client's needs.
  • Mailchimp doesn't like custom code in conjunction with their drag and drop formatting. I've had a hard time customizing their templates.
Mailchimp is a great way to learn about custom email design and list creation. It's well suited for beginners and those with a limited budget. I do not recommend it for a large company that needs to send a variety of emails for different reasons.

I use Mailchimp to maintain contact lists of both my clients and prospects. I also manage Mailchimp accounts for several clients, including initial setup and configuration, and maintenance. Mailchimp makes it painless to create and maintain an email marketing list through its many integrations with other software. The free tier in particular makes it incredibly useful to many of my nonprofit clients.
  • Management of multiple email marketing lists
  • Creation & scheduling of email campaigns
  • More finite control over styles when editing
  • I'd love the ability to post emails directly to a website via RSS or other method.
I almost always recommend Mailchimp to my clients or others who are looking for email marketing software. The free tier makes it incredibly attractive for small organizations and nonprofits that don't have large (or any) marketing budgets but still need to communicate with their audience. In particular, Mailchimp is great for groups that use social media because of the integration with several platforms to drive engagement.

We use Mailchimp as an effective tool for sending automated newsletter and email campaigns for our faculty members and students. Mailchimp facilitates and improves our communication within our big organization. It allows our IT department to send personalized newsletter/messages for specific groups in our organization e.g. staff, new comer students, senior students, etc., in an effective and automated way.
  • Easy to use
  • Web-based and no need to install any software
  • Great tool for automation
  • Generates reports for better insights
  • Photo editor feature needs some improvements
  • Would be nice to have more templates for email campaigns
Mailchimp can be used for many purposes and in any field that requires sending a lot of emails. This platform is very effective for sending automated emails to a wide group of people and can be very useful for email marketing campaigns and newsletter. It helps our department for save time and get nice feedback from the generated reports.

We are a small business, and we use Mailchimp for regularly emailing clients and prospective clients as well as talking internally. We recommend it to our clients of course!
  • Easy To Use
  • Templates help ensure communication is effective
  • Linking between desktop and mobile is sometimes more cumbersome
  • App should be the default on the mobile phone not the web browser
Mailchimp is really suited across small and large businesses. I can't really think of where it is not effective unless each email is for a single user and the content is unique to the user

Mailchimp is one of the top email marketing platforms we recommend to clients. It offers an easy to use interface that enables organizations to quickly deliver high-quality emails without the need for a developer. Reporting, group segmentation, and analytics are also easy to use.
  • Creating and sending emails
  • Reporting
  • It can be restrictive for novice users
  • More integrations would be useful
We often recommend Mailchimp to mid-to-large organizations. It's great for newsletters and marketing emails.

Our staff is all using Mailchimp to send personalized newsletters to keep their supporters up to date. Also, our marketing team manages our core MailChimp account to send newsletters, calls to action, and fundraising campaigns to all our supporters and followers. The main thing it helps us all with is to share stories directly to our supporters in a visually compelling way.
  • Image editing! We don't always get perfectly sized shots, and adding text and captions is so simple.
  • The layout and format of the email message are really easy to work with.
  • List management and targetting.
  • Integration with other apps.
  • Occasionally the text editor doesn't clear styles, bu the WYSIWYG editor is mostly right on.
It is excellent for sending newsletters to our audience. However, it is not great for one on one communication, as my colleagues sometimes try to do. For that, it's best to use a regular email to send the personal message rather than crafting a new campaign in MailChimp.

We use Mailchimp for any simple surveys we need to send out. There may be others across my organization who use it, I am not sure. I’ve just used it before when I need to send out a survey to many others. It is typically used to get feedback on an event or something along those lines.
  • Good free usability
  • Very user friendly
  • More free functionality
From what I understand, Mailchimp has a lot of different features, including sending newsletters, as a CRM tool, and other types of contact with clients. I’ve only used the survey tool, and at a rather smaller scale, to be honest. But I can say that it’s well-suited for that use. Other services, like Qualtrics, might have more features but aren’t free.

I use MailChimp for my own business as well as for several clients. It's generally used by marketing to both help build an opt-in email list for the company to use as well to send out emails on either a pre-scheduled or ad hoc basis. It helps us stay in front of prospects and nurture leads throughout the sales process.
  • Provides a pop-up form to collect site visitor email addresses.
  • Helps build your opt-in email list using different forms.
  • Makes it easy to schedule regular communications, such as weekly blog roundups.
  • Could use more flexibility in designing pop-up forms.
  • More sophisticated segmentation and auto email sequences.
  • Simpler UI.
Mailchimp has broad applicability across departments and industries. It's probably not the best choice for large, multi-product organizations with very complex needs for segmentation and features such as conditional branching based on recipient actions, but it's ideal for solopreneurs and small businesses with less than 10,000 contacts and relatively simple needs.

We usually use Mailchimp to send email blasts, collect users interested in our newsletter through a form on our website, and design email html templates.
  • Login security
  • Email send and analytics
  • Hard to login
  • Hard to segment users
Mailchimp is a great platform when used to build an email list and divide it into different segments of users and to schedule automatic newsletters. It's also great for list management.
I don’t think Mailchimp shines when it has to be customized with submission forms, or with a custom unsubscribe page. It’s also not the best if you already have a big list of subscribers.
I appreciate that they have custom-priced models for single-send email blasts.

The marketing and Communications department at Crowe Soberman uses Mailchimp to send various firm communications to our clients and referral sources, including tax letters, news, and blog posts. We also use Mailchimp to send invitations to events, although we track responses in other software. Mailchimp is one of the main ways we communicate with our clients.
  • Social analytics
  • Email marketing
  • We send invitations by Mailchimp but have to do the tracking in Eventbrite. Some of those features should be added to Mailchimp.
  • It could use more complete CRM functions. We have to integrate with other software to get the functionality we prefer.
Mailchimp is very easy-to-use software for sending mass communications. It is easy to create well-designed and brand-compliant communications with Mailchimp. It is very easy to add and delete people, and they help us to keep on top of governmental compliance issues such as CASL, GDPR, etc.

We are using Mailchimp to publish and disseminate our weekly newsletters to our students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members. As far as I know, it is only being used by one other department within our school, besides ours. For us, the business solutions it addresses is it provides a easy solution to create and produce newsletters and disseminate it to our community of over 5,000 people. It is easy to add text, photos, etc. and as the publisher, I have access to identify who has opened the newsletter and who has not.
  • Easy to use and updates to application have been very customer focused.
  • Love the amount of services you receive from them at absolutely no cost to you. You can add up to 2,000 subscribers for free.
  • Compatibility with our CRM and HubSpot which enables us to target our email marketing efforts.
  • Great customer service. Any time issues arose or questions needed to be addressed, their customer service team was very responsive and helpful.
  • Outstanding email analytics which allows us to measure many metrics for our email marketing campaign.
  • I wish that the uploaded files were easier to manage in that I would like to delete older versions of uploaded files that I no longer need. However, they are "layered" in the Content Manager section and I am not able to un-layer them to delete versions I do not need.
  • It can get expensive quickly, particularly if you have over 2,000 subscribers which we do (close to 5,000 subscribers).
  • Sometimes the formatting of an email newsletter-type communication can be tricky for a novice on Mailchimp, but after doing it once or twice, you get the hang of it and it becomes much easier.
Mailchimp is absolutely ideal for corresponding with customers/clientele. Not only is Mailchimp very affordable for businesses with limited budgets, it is a great way to manage and store the likely smaller customer lists those businesses have. In my personal experience, I have loved the way the "unsubscribe" feature works with Mailchimp. It notifies you as the user when and why someone requests to be unsubscribed from future correspondence, and ensures they are actually removed from your Mailchimp list. Along those same lines, mailing out to a list on a spreadsheet and/or directly from an email account often results in the message being flagged as spam/junk for recipients. You also often have limits as to how many addresses you can send a message to at one time, creating additional time and work for the user. Mailchimp does it all for you with one click of the button. Not only that, you can review analytics including how many people have opened the email, how many additional clicks links within the email have gotten, how many emails were undeliverable, and more. It is just so user-friendly. Can get pricey if you have a large subscriber list (over 2,000).

Previous to my working at the organization, newsletters and event notices were sent out by BCC'ing all of the recipients on a normal email. However, at that time, our email service had a maximum of 50 (?) recipients per email, meaning each time we sent a mass email, we would actually be sending several. I chose to implement MailChimp for all mass emails for the museum. The graphic appeal of the emails skyrocketed with our variety of custom templates. Also, the ease of subscribing and unsubscribing was fantastic, and brought us into the present.
  • It is easy to create graphically appealing templates, and to use those templates with new content for each message.
  • Safe unsubscribe, and subscription options are great and reliable.
  • Delivery and message statistics were fantastic, especially considering we were coming from 0.
  • For our limited requirements (1-5 monthly emails to a list of 200 or so), with a few different templates and delivery statistics...everything worked perfectly! We didn't need anything to change at all.
I'm not totally sure how it may or may not integrate with a larger database, or compete in the market of extensive link click tracking, etc, but for the purposes of a small organization, it is absolutely a must-have. Nobody should be sending mass emails via BCC anymore. Make them look good with ease with MailChimp!

Mailchimp is a simple way to send out mass emails. It is used by our marketing department, who is in charge of sending out marketing and transactional emails to our customers and prospects. We have it integrated with our CRM. Mailchimp does provide some analytics which help us to evaluate the success of our email campaigns.
  • Simple, easy to use platform
  • Drag and drop templates make designing an email a snap
  • Free version is limited with number of contacts and audiences. (It is free, after all.)
  • Free version requires Mailchimp footer
Mailchimp is good for organizations looking to send mass emails or drip campaigns. There are several pricing tiers to suit your needs, so even companies with a sizable number of contacts could benefit from using Mailchimp. I like that you can segment the audience by using various tags so that you can send relevant messages to your audience. As stated earlier, my experience is in the free version. We are currently almost to the maximum number of contacts, so we'll need to make a decision in the near future of how to proceed.

We utilize Mailchimp as our weekly marketing and industry news newsletter platform. We have an emailing list of about 15,000 and Mailchimp offers a very user-friendly interface to crank out a newsletter each week to them. Each version of Mailchimp becomes more and more user-friendly, specifically with improvements in making timely updates to our templates and increased ability to dive into analytics so that we can better understand our audience's needs and interaction level.
  • Provides a near 'drag-and-drop' user-friendly interface.
  • Improved photo-editing abilities within the platform, rather than having to rely on Photoshop to polish an image before importing into the piece.
  • Tracks analytics and provides digestible reports on activity.
  • Although the photo editing abilities are better than they were, there is still room for improvement here.
  • The 'widgets' are nice and very user-friendly, but I'd love to see some additional options so that layouts can become even more customizable.
  • Mobile design: Currently, you can preview how a design will look on mobile, but one must first design within a 'laptop' formatted layout. It would be great to have the ability to design either mobile-first or even as a side-by-side comparison so you can see how the layout is affected in both environments as you go.
Free version: Smaller startups, personal accounts with small lists and/or infrequent sends.
Paid versions: Larger companies with large mail lists and/or frequent sends.
My personal experience has been with drip campaigns and newsletters. Both are easily designed and maintained within this platform. However, if one were looking for something that could accommodate more multimedia, Mailchimp appears to be improving, but there might be better options available.

  • Customization is easy with templates
  • Switch from Audience back to Lists

We utilize Mailchimp internally for newsletters to users and occasionally out to our clients as a means to email them and manage who requests to be removed/didn't receive them, etc, and therefore require removal from the list or review on our system as to why they didn't get through.
  • Simple web interface.
  • Easy to clone lists and templates.
  • Simple to track delivery and statistics of campaigns.
  • Due to mass usage, sometimes have issues with delivery being stuck in held queues due to grey mail.
  • Had a few issues with the formatting of emails when creating new ones on their system.
Its a simple, web-based solution with a free starter version to get you hooked on the system and using their platform for your campaigns. We've found it quick to get to grips with and really easy to train others when required.

We use it to keep in contact with our network. That includes our business and personal mailing list. Any potential clients that sign up for our mailing list as well. It simplifies the contact process for us and always keeps us top of mind for clients and friends. It as replaced our rolodex for customer contact.
  • List organization
  • Importing contacts from 3rd parties
  • More templates to use when sending out mass emails
  • Simplify the template interface
If you are a smaller company and are handling a lot of your customer contact and social media on your own, this is the product for you. It is easy for 1 or 2 people to make periodic changes to lists and also send out mass emails when necessary. For a big organization it might not make much sense.

We use Mailchimp to communicate with the public via email. They sign up on our website or at an event (they have to opt in), and then we send marketing/fundraising emails about two to four times per month. It's a great way to keep people engaged and send them info that they wouldn't otherwise come across. Since our supporters span a huge age range and a region of 26 counties, it's important that we have a fast way to communicate with them. Only one person at our organization handles the Mailchimp emails for the entire org.
  • Great quality for the price. I appreciate the nonprofit discount.
  • The interface is pretty easy to use and visually appealing.
  • Their "audience" and "segments" functions could use some tweaking. It doesn't totally make sense to me, even though I'm an experienced email marketer.
  • Their templates are pretty limiting. You only have a few options for number of columns, and once you pick one while editing an email, you can't switch or add more.
It's great for small nonprofits. I believe the choir I sing with uses it for free because their audience size is small enough. It's definitely worth the price. If you're a large company sending complicated emails based on shopper behavior, interests, and lots of other factors, you'll want something more robust like Salesforce. But that's a lot harder to use. I find Mailchimp very user friendly for even the least techy people.

We use Mailchimp as a ministry to contact and update the parents of our students, as well as our volunteers. MailChimp allows us to easily set up e-mail lists that we can add people to ourselves OR have people sign up for via an easy to use link. The process of segmenting lists and/or having separate lists to send different e-mail to has been an easy way for us to communicate to our different groups. For example we have a list of all the parents who receive our e-mails and within that list we have segments that separate middle school student parents from high school parents, parents of male students from parents of female students, etc. We also have a completely separate list for mailing just our volunteers and that is segmented as well.

We are also able to design and manage a number of different templates depending on the type of e-mail that needs to be sent out. We have templates for general weekly e-mails to parents, e-mails to leaders, special announcement e-mails, as well as a template that we use to announce specific events. Overall, MailChimp is an easy to use and effective communication tool that allows us to quickly contact our leaders and parents with clean, easy to read e-mails.
  • List management is easy to do and fairly intuitive
  • Template design and creation functions solidly and allows you to tailor your e-mails to specific groups
  • The tracking metrics allow you to see who's opening your e-mails and how many clicks you get from within them.
  • MailChimp sometimes struggles to embed videos well
  • Because of the nature of an e-mail from MailChimp, mail often ends up in the "Promotion" folder in Gmail
  • Occasionally during template design it can be a struggle to get your template to look EXACTLY how you envision
MailChimp easily meets our communication needs for the fairly simple e-mails we send out each week or for the less regular special announcement and event e-mails. As with any communication tool, however, MailChimp has the capacity to become too much and overwhelm readers or cause them to check out. Self editing in regards to length of e-mail and content is always necessary.

Mailchimp is being used by a large number of our independent departments across campus. From Advancement to Admissions, there are various groups that all use Mailchimp for various lists that they send campaigns and one off messages to. It has been well used to help groups that otherwise wouldn't have the ability to easily send mass email to those that they are trying to more effectively target.
  • Easily create email newsletters with no coding
  • Customize the email lists to cater to a more specific email message
  • When bringing in your own HTML it can get somewhat confusing for those not as familiar with coding.
  • Some of the reporting could be better
Depending on the use case, I would recommend Mailchimp to those users who are not overly savvy in the realm of email marketing. There can be some issues with the initial setup but once you have that set, it is very simple for almost anyone to start sending out various newsletters and one off messages to a large population in your org.

Currently it's being used across the organization for marketing and sales efforts. We focus on two specific audiences and multiple emails are sent to those audiences per week based on their preferences. It is currently being used by 4 people and managed by one. Right now it helps us communicate with our audiences in a very simple, yet well thought out product.
  • Design emails - Before creating custom HTML emails, the Mailchimp templates were extremely easy to use. Adding images, calls to action and content could be used by anybody.
  • Analytics - The analytics really allow you to nail down who is utilizing the content within your email. All CTA's are tracked and multiple views of how the emails are being consumed really help create an ongoing marketing plan for emails.
  • Although the templates are great, they can be very glitchy. Spacing issues can drive you crazy as you want to make sure your email looks perfect to your audience.
  • Landing pages - although they have landing pages, the customization could be better. I find other programs stress landing pages more and it could be improved. It is very important to grow your lists.
Mailchimp has made great strides over the years. I would say it is the best program for small businesses to use for their email marketing in any industry. Creating email sign up lists for your website is easy and creating emails is very simple with their templates. I highly recommend.

Mailchimp is not suited well for surveys, which would be a nice feature instead of using another vendor. Having your email lists in one place and supporting surveys would be a nice feature to have built into Mailchimp.

We use Mailchimp in the marketing department for email marketing and automation. It helps us automate our welcome series and send monthly emails.
  • Email marketing
  • Email Automation
  • Mailchimp is very expensive.
  • Mailchimp doesn't seem to be as innovative as competitors. There are new software that are innovating much more quickly like Flodesk.
Despite Mailchimp being very expensive I would recommend it to most people. If you have less than 2500 contacts then Mailchimp is the way to go. For those who have more than this but need an easy to use and understand email marketing system that isn't very overwhelming and has all the features they would need I still think Mailchimp is a great option. However, it is very expensive and I think it isn't as innovative as it should be and so there are other options out there that will soon catch up with Mailchimp and even offer more.

We've been sending out a sequence of emails to different groups of customers for our latest project. It's been great getting the results we need and seeing who's been clicking our links and re-sending emails to people who haven't clicked or opened the first-touch email. Seeing those analytics and having the ability to segment our list and send emails targeted to a specific audience has been super helpful.

This has been a key component of building out our online case studies and customer testimonials.

  • Mailchimp is easy to learn and use.
  • List segmenting, email scheduling, and detailed analytics are all features that streamline our processes and help us market to and email constituents with ease.
  • We've had a few issues getting the right lists and communication segmenting set-up, but once we got the hang of it everything worked out. We had to change our segmenting approach a little to make it work though.
Mailchimp is well suited for your standard marketing automation needs. It's a dependable email system.

I used Mailchimp to connect with fans. I share my show schedule, announcements, fun facts, and more! It’s very useful for sending one email to hundreds of fans at a time. For example, the past few weeks I had to cancel all my shows for December and beginning of January. Mailchimp was the best way to notify everyone. Yes I posted on social media, but because of the algorithm, it’s just not podcasts for everyone to see posts. Mailchimp on the other hand will directly message all subscribers.
  • Reasonable pricing.
  • Organization of lists.
  • Txt message marketing.
  • Layout is easy to navigate.
  • I don't like how I need to enter a security code every 2 weeks to log in. It’s super unnecessary to require every 2 weeks. I understand that spammers and hackers might try to use my account, but majority of the time whether it’s me or an assistant logging in, it rather inconvenient and difficult to send them the code in time.
  • I don't like that you can't play videos directly on the email. I wish that instead of clicking the video picture in posts, that it could play the video right there instead of exporting to another page. By adding this feature it insures efficiency and helps market to the sad attention span so many have today.
  • I wish there were more fonts to choose from. I like the fonts provided, however they’re a bit basic and straight forward for my taste and brand. When I send emails I do my best to sound as genuine as possible and being able to choose a font on brant helps my voice to connect.
Well suited for musicians, creators, retail, but probably not appropriate for someone like a teacher at a school or a non profit. They usually prefer more in-person or via phone call communication. I think any creative or professional with a business can greatly benefit from having mailchimp and an emailing list. It can help maintain relationships with family and friends too when you want to send out a holiday card or a funny story.
