What is Adobe Marketo Engage?

Adobe Marketo Engage, from Adobe since 2018, aims to help marketing teams drive demand and growth in their companies by delivering exceptional experiences in concert with sales at every stage of the customer journey.

The challenge these teams face is that everyone today expects a personalized experience whenever they interact with a company - they don’t have patience for generic marketing and the last thing they want is a cold call from sales. So to stay competitive, marketing teams are scrambling to understand customers better, so they can give them a better experience, because this is disrupting entire industries. And a big part of what’s needed is figuring out how marketing and sales can do a better job together.

Adobe Marketo Engage aims to redefine Marketing Automation by helping these companies bring together the customer data, content, automation and analytics needed for marketing and sales to coordinate engagement with customers that’s personalized and measurable at every touchpoint - and do it with efficiency and scale.

Companies can't remove reviews or game the system. Here's why

Marketo is quite quick and easy to implement and you can send your first campaign really quickly. If your data is visible and synced from your CRM then it's simple to create a Smart Campaign to segment your audience and send emails, update data values, etc.
Salesforce Marketing Cloud on the other hand is a whole other kettle of fish. It's a BEAST of a platform and it's given to you as essentially a blank canvas with no clear "best practice" way to use it. The UI isn't user-friendly, the system is clunky and slow, and it could take days or weeks before you could send your first automated email journey. SFMC also relies on SQL to segment audiences, unlike Marketo's drag and drop segment builder. SQL is understandably more powerful and since SFMC uses Data Extensions for list management, this opens up a whole range of personalisation possibilities for you to leverage. Hence why SFMC is much better suited for B2C scenarios than Marketo is. SFDC also incorporates the power of AMPscript, which again, allows you to hyper-personalise every email you send. Whereas, you are limited to use Marketo Segmentations for Dynamic content which are more difficult to manage and a little less reliable.
If you are a growing B2B company with limited products and services and are looking for a platform that any Marketer can use, without the need of a Developer or specialised Agency, then Marketo is the way to go.

HubSpot, SharpSpring and ActiveCampaign are much better and a lot cheaper than Marketo all have [a] better user interface, UX, WYSIWYG editors. Their lead flow management [is] more intuitive. You will be able to pick them up and run with them in no time. Reporting and assigning tasks is so much better, they all also have an integrated CRM.

Marketo is robust and effective - it can be daunting to learn but once you learn something you get ahold of things in the system quickly over time. Marketo has a cleaner interface, it is nice to be able to have everything rolled into one spot and not have to figure out how to integrate or make campaigns connect somehow.

I realized how much I valued Marketo after switching to SFMC. SFMC is a Frankenstein project that is not user-friendly and takes a developer to get things achieved that I ( or a developer) could set up in minutes in Marketo. I would never recommend SFMC to anyone.

Inter ale is good, but it is not as robust as Marketo. I will say it’s easier to learn, and it is cheaper. I would recommend it for a smaller business. But some features don’t exist or are just not instinctive.

Marketo is the most comprehensive marketing automation tool out there. It allows you to have visibility into your programs, campaigns, conversions and important KPI reporting for the leadership team. It is an all inclusive api automation platform that connect to your entire ecosystem for important attainment and cohort analysis.

I've used ON24 for their Event/Webinar landing page functionality. The issue with ON24 is that it does not have the power behind it like Marketo does. ON24 is a great webinar platform, but their analytics, scoring, and lead management capabilities just aren't there. It's not an alternative by any means.

We felt like we hit a ceiling with what we were capable of doing with Pardot and Marketo allowed us to pick up right where we left off with our previous system and have a breadth of options and growth opportunities moving forward.

I think that Marketo and HubSpot are pretty similar regarding the features available, they both are very robust and reliable platforms that can be used for lead generation, marketing automation, and other marketing/sales activities in general. The point that really differentiates them to me is the interface design: HubSpot looks like a well more modern platform than Marketo only by the way it looks and feels.

Marketo is really expansive and customizable. One of the toughest parts of choosing software that will be the backbone of your marketing and operations departments is the fact that you have to account for all things you need right now, as well as prepare for future growth plans. Marketo covered all bases while providing security for all of our lead and customer-sensitive data.

Marketo is not as strong overall as Hubspot's technology and does not allow for the 3rd party partner experience within the UI as an E2Open, but overall Marketo does do an excellent job managing the A-Z from a marketing campaign execution side of things. I will admit I was not part of the group that selected the tool.

Marketo outweighs Oracle email marketing platform in the structure and the ease of use. Marketo also provides a serious control over the logic in the smart campaign that Oracle's platform lacked. The list management in Marketo is way easier and the interface is much more pleasant to the eyes in general.

Marketo is the most powerful amongst all the tools we have used by far. Landing pages and integrations are most compatible. It is flexible and very adaptable. Demand Generation and lead management is the best. Email Marketing is blissful with Marketo, and sales insights and reporting are great additions.

As a large enterprise, we selected Marketo because of its robust features and creditability with large brands. Additionally, with the steep learning curve, finding employees who have Marketo experience is crucial, and our team had experience in the platform from prior roles. Hubspot and Eloqua were top contenders as well, with Hubspot's social media features being best in class.

We found Marketo to be the market leader in both automation and top-of-funnel lead management. The breadth and ease of integrations with Salesforce and other elements of the marketing tech stack pushed us to select Marketo. The guided landing pages also made it easy for channel owners to produce their own content rather than relying on marketing operations or our developers to generate content - reducing project timelines and increasing overall marketing efficiency.

Marketo is the best marketing automation platform out there. Although the UI is complicated, with Marketo we can set up more sophisticated personalized and automated campaigns. We are able to find out what works with our prospects and customers and find the right momentum. We can easily set up all our email trigger campaigns, nurture campaigns, demographic segmentation, and lead scoring. I am impressed by Marketo's capabilities as compared to any other platform out there.

Aprimo fell behind Marketo for the email marketing and connection to Salesforce. Aprimo tries to be a lot a things in one platform and does an OK job. Marketo is specialized and can go further in the email marketing swim lane.

Oracle CX Marketing is the best all around email marketing platform. It has better lead scoring, a more flexible data structure, a robust CRM connection, and strong content abilities. This is once you get it up and running. The platform takes a lot more effort to get going and more technical and specialized people to keep it going.

Adobe Campaign is a better fit for large enterprises than Marketo. There is much more you can do and customize, but it will take more time and people to get it up and running. The maintenance is more ongoing.

Marketo has been around for a long time. I have used HubSpot, Pardot, and Mailchimp as well in the past.

I prefer Marketo for it's overall general flexibility - it is a "jack of all trades." It is certainly has hangups, but all around it is my preferred tool for B2B companies because of the litany of boxes it checks for my demand gen and marketing operations needs.

For startups with folks who have never used marketing automat before, HubSpot is worth looking into.

For my personal small business operating a vacation rental, Mailchimp is my preferred choice.
